A Quebec Compromise
As Norsefire’s new regional representative for Quebec and the Maritimes, it is part of my duty to propose platforms that respond to the needs of the party’s constituents in these areas. I would be greatly remiss in this duty if I did not propose some solution to the current sentiment of Quebec’s Francophone population.
Seceding from Canada simply does not work and it accomplishes nothing. There is no historical reason why any Quebecois should feel resentment; eQuebec was never conquered by Canada, it was a part of Canada at its inception. Pulling Quebec away from Canada is uncalled for.
However, Canada is and should be a bilingual country. A francophone culture has started to take root in Quebec. While they have no right to force French upon everyone else (and seceding would be tantamount to doing such a thing), the rest of Canada has no right to force English upon them. To encourage and assist the establishment of French culture in Canada I have come up with several proposals which I submit to my readership now for review. If they are popular, I will propose that my party adopt them as part of its platform.
- A section of the eCanada forums set aside for discussion in French
- All congressional proposals to be made available in both English and French within a day of their posting
- Subsidies given to active bilingual newspapers (this could possibly be done by Quebec’s local government)
- An amendment to Canada’s constitution recognizing French alongside English as Canada’s official language
If anyone has other platform suggestions, do not hesitate to contact me.

first step : get a real french translator, this french is barely readable
Have you read the english translations of what some of the french players write? as long as we can understand it its acceptable. And this shows an active effort to help the situation. I applaud it.
So what this is saying is that it should be more like the real quebec?
Altnabla: I used an automatic translator to provide a temporary translation of the article until I found time to translate it accurately myself. This has since been done.
TheHIV: Possibly, depending on your meaning. I am suggesting that the Canadian government recognise and support the Francophones who have established themselves in Quebec.
Voted , i am touched , the first real democratic activity to fix the problem from english canadian , but it\'s stange no? , you from Quebec 🙂
I may be english but that doesn\'t mean I oppose language equality and that is all this is.
I hope you agree that this sort of compromise is in our best interests.
This compromise is a good symbolic way to recognite Quebec as a nation inside Canada. As discussed with Latro, it is currently impossible to have pratical way of having a real recognition, aside written ones.
So we don\'t have much choice as to set the bases of the \"french canadian\" platform and continue vote for Latro ideas.
If we want a strong Quebec and a strong Canada we must work with those little steps and make sure that we stay united. United we stand, divided we are powerless and easily conquered.
Canada was created to be a strong unity that can work together and defend themselves from the world threat, at that time it was USA (base upon in real life Canada history). Let\'s honor the mans that created Canada and work together for a peaceful future.
Wow the last elections clearly showed that the PQ leaders only think of themselves using... unethical way 😑 great this gives Quebec a nice reputation...
