A Personal Reflection

Day 1,618, 21:09 Published in Bulgaria Russia by Porosus

Ok, so with the 'new' (you're seriously saying you didn't see it coming?) Q3 training centers, the people (or media at least) are in a fury over the sheer greediness of the Wigs. People in the comments of said articles are saying how they are either glad they didn't buy any Gold with RL money, or that they are sorry they did, and they won't ever do it again.

I am very proud to say I am amongst those who have never bought WigGoldz, never will, and am successful still.

For those of you who will read this, there is this thing called working for yourself. You are cheap, and work as hard as you love. You work as a manager in every single business you own. While in retrospect this doesn't get you very far, you still progress. SAVE YOUR EARNINGS!!! Way back when I started, you got 5 gold at like level 5, 10, 15, and every level after 16 I believe. Now back then you actually had to work for your levels, not leveling up to level 18 in one day.

I knew I was never going to buy gold, so I knew I had to save. Most players, I think I can safely say, didn't think about buying Gold. We knew that if we saved long enough, we could open our own business, adding to the economy, and our wealth. I remember my first company was a wood company in Tennessee, USA. I was making maybe one gold every other day, at Q1 (yes, there used to be Q1-5 for resources). Then, with the money I had saved, I was able to upgrade to Q2. I was then making between one to three Gold per day, depending on how active I was at night with the market. I then left the wood market for the more profitable iron market, based out of Asturias, Spain. At the time, only Asturias and Central Greece had high iron and were friends of the US and Atlantis. This made them VERY easy to sell en mass, and at good prices, and I got decently rich from it.

To give you a figure of how influential iron was to the game, when Romania got a hold of Podolia for a little while from Hungary, wages doubled. Serbia went all the way to fricken China, fought off EDEN/USA twice in the two largest battles of V1, and was the lynch-pin in their growth to becoming a super power. When Romania lost Western Siberia to Indonesia, they lost their entire empire. But I digress.

Gold does run the world because Admins make it stable. Yes you can buy the damn stuff using RL money. But are you happier? No. Wouldn't you be happier knowing you earned the gold rather than buying it with money that could buy you a prostitute? A video game? Songs to serenade your lady friend/friends with? I think so. If I were to liquidate all of my possessions right now, I could easily have 500 Gold to play with. None of it bought, all of it earned.

Also, who among those who read this were active during V1?
