A newbie’s insight on eRepublik

Day 3,356, 05:43 Published in Romania Romania by PRINTSY

I like to consider myself a baby citizen of this virtual world in order to not get upset (or angry, depending on the case) when I want to fight for an achievement and it happens with people that from 1 single hit have more damage than I can possibly make after 200 or more. Is there no division for baby fighters like myself? Now, seriously, is there any justice in this e-world? 🙂

We have all sort of institutions and people that lead them. Just wondering why since they don’t also help newcomers to put things into perspective and to learn how to best approach the game. Ok, one could Google it and find useful information online, but it’s different.

I consider myself lucky because in the first days of the game I received some donations. But this wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t watched Clopoyaur’s stream where I won a giveaway. Some more followed in other streams and things started rolling a bit for me. So yes, I’d say that without the help of some people from this community, I would have gotten bored after the first 5 days (or less). (I’ll take this opportunity to say thanks to all those that helped either with donations or endorsements to my previous articles. Really appreciate it!

My feeling is that things are a bit dusty around here. If you keep things really simple and play by yourself, it’s better to shut down your computer and read a good book or something (actually, this might be a good idea either way, but let’s not be mean).
Ok, yesterday there was that guerrilla competition organized by the same Clopoyaur (by the way, after writing my previous article about his stream, I found out that he actually is an ambassador. This sounds like a cool program, at least on paper), in which many people got involved and participated, but besides that I don't see many things happening.

After 20 days of eRepublik, playing without reading any articles with tips and tricks and without any tutorials, my thoughts are as follows:

- I’ll play for fun, not for medals (there is no way I can compete with older citizens, so no point in struggling to fight for I don’t know what achievements. Although I might add it feels good that I’m ranked 2nd as a slayer in the Opponents Defeated Leaderboard of Romania, Division 1 and 1st in my MU last week. Not much to most of you, but to me it’s cool 😃 )

- I have to learn how to be patient. At this stage, few things can be done. No energy, no strength, no nothing. I’m curious where all these will take me…

- there is no point in asking myself why after so many years of this game, the media module (press module, whatever it’s called) has so few features (and I imagine that some other modules are probably in a similar situation. I wouldn’t know though, so better not to talk about that). No notifications for new comments, you can’t see your subscribers and so on

- it’s better to try to become part of a community if you want it to be fun

So yes, a newcomer might feel like Alice in wonderland (but without the magic of it) wondering which way to go and what to do next. I’m curious how this experience is for other baby citizens (who are playing for the first time this game). Maybe some of them put more thought into it and do their homework, not like me. But, hey, I don’t intend to be some kind of a role model citizen, so I can afford some laziness and no strategy whatsoever.

PS: If you like my articles, don't forget to subscribe (that subscribe button should be under "vote" button to make things easier, if you ask me). I wouldn't mind getting that media mogul medal at some point (if I stick around that long, that is) 😃
