A New World for the "New World"
TheBlackAdder
eRep is hailed as the “New World” but is it really?
Same countries, different people, same clichés.
One of the great things about eRep is the sense of patriotism and striving to improve your nation; but this is also one of the major setbacks. People feel bound to the country they live in; if America looses this war and all their regions I can imagine a lot of people quitting the game for good. If your country has a really low population you feel insignificant and may quit because of that. This could all be different in a New World
Imagine a truly new world with new, fiction continents and nations. This new proposed world would consist of new land masses with new regions and countries to exist on them. It would run parallel to the eWorld we live in and players would have the option to join this world in addition to the current world, effectively starting a new character. The Nation’s characteristics and culture would be formed by its inhabitants rather than the world we live in. We could see much greater diversity with countries forming their own unique ideals with players moving to the countries whose ideals they identify with the most.
The game would be the same. Fictional countries would be created to be equal in power in terms or regions and a relative amount of resources. It would be up to players to entice new players into their country. Players could even be assigned a random region when they originally join.
The true new world could be a very interesting place to be. This idea could provide a fun alternative to our current world and allow us all to try something different. If you like this idea please vote it up and let’s try to get some attention! 😃

it would be great, but it would never happen. Patriotism is what brings people to the game
To an extent yes, retaining players is also important though and I think this could really boost interest, and as you said, be great 😃
That is true Patti, but if it ran parallel to the current format then people could be a part of both 'Worlds', with each one offering something different.

One of the problems with relocation is the language barrier. I was looking into relocating to Croatia or Lithuania, two countries I have always been interested in, but the media, forums, and IRC are all in their respective languages.
eRep really doesn't have the population to create a different world for each language, and as long as there is a communication barrier between the general population, people will follow their peers.
