A New Mayor For Austin

Day 297, 08:32 Published in USA USA by NoneSuch

Hello Austin and everyone else from other regions that this probably won’t pertain to. I am hereby announcing my candidacy for mayor of Austin. Austin is currently the 3rd largest region in eUSA so where do I get off running for its mayor? First of all, I chose Austin as my hometown because in RL I live in Texas and I’m sticking to it. Now that I’m a more experienced player, I realize just how difficult it is for someone in my situation to be voted in. While it would be much easier for a person to be voted in a less populated area, I would rather remain loyal to my region of origin. I don’t plan on taking advantage of the system here.

I’m not in the biggest political party so I’m naturally not going to win because of party-line voting. I plan on getting your votes through loyalty, commitment, and working my ass off to earn your respect and not by joining the largest political party to be voted in by the infamous “two click a-day” players. Becoming mayor just because a player decided to take his occasional 3rd click isn’t a democracy.

Below are my stands on two of the biggest issues when it comes to running for mayor:

Taxes
– Even though we already have a Q4 hospital in our region we must not stop collecting taxes. As some of you may know Mexico has become rather unstable, declaring war on Spain and such, and we should be prepared. In no way am I saying that Mexico has plans on attacking us, but why be caught with our pants down? I will review the company tax, find out what the general managers have to say about it, and adjust it accordingly. As for the housing tax, it still remains a vital source of income for the state and cannot be discarded. It’s better to split the two taxes putting less pressure on both company owners and homeowners. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not some tax mongering warlord, I’m going to set them as low as possible, I just realize the importance of having some taxes.

Employment – I will personally PM the unemployed and find them jobs. There are plenty of companies that I know of that are constantly searching for employees of all skill levels and would be happy to hire you.

Come voting day, I hope everyone that votes goes to the ballots well informed of the issues and the candidates views on them. Let’s have a real election come the 20th of September and may the best candidate win.

Thanks and Gig’Em,
