A mini-biography

Day 711, 13:24 Published in USA USA by Fionia

There's no particular reason for writing this article, except for the fact that I think somebody, somewhere out there might find it interesting. Also, IMO, it's good to know what perspective a person is coming from in this game when it comes to politics.

First of all, check this out: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/a-visit-with-the-women-of-erepublik-1004780/1/20

Fun fact: Of the women featured in that article, I am the third oldest (in eRep terms), yet also one of the least experienced.

I started this game back in February, following an ad I saw on either NationStates or Facebook (I can't remember which). When I joined, I decided that I didn't want to just start in the USA; I wanted to try something different. This was during the height of my obsession with RL Russia, so I started there. I was the typical two-clicker: low wellness, complete ignorance on how the game worked, and I got bored pretty quickly. I only logged on when I remembered to, so only once every few days, which decreased my wellness even further. I got used to a cycle of finding a job, working, then getting fired by the time I next logged in. And I got used to having no money. I even spent level 6 gold on wellness packs because it was the quickest way I saw to increase my wellness. I played this way for 5 months, because I thought things would get more interesting the further I progressed in the game. No dice. I got down to 9 wellness at one point, and then joined a new company. I can't remember the name of it, but the company owner personally gifted me, and got me up to 40 wellness. Then I got to fight for the first time, and learned a very important lesson: You can only heal once per day. I was in Kaliningrad, which had at the time a Q1 hospital. I fought once, healed, then fought again. My employer fired me the next day for having destroyed my wellness. That was the final straw.

I bought a moving ticket as soon as I could, moved to Canada (because I discovered that I couldn't go straight to the eUS). I worked there for a few days, bought another moving ticket, and moved from Canada to the eNew Hampshire. I was incredibly lucky to have moved when I did, before the implementation of citizenship. Considering where I was coming from, I don't know if I would be an eUSA citizen, or as far as I am in politics today if I had not been here when citizenship started.

I was in eNH for a few days before the company owner of the latest company I was working for told me that the company was closing down because the state it was in was about to be conquered. The owner told me to move to Florida, and I did. I got fired from that company a few days later because I kept forgetting to log in and work. I got another job, with incredibly low wages, but at that point (late July, early August) I wasn't particularly concerned about money. I was still incredibly ignorant about the game, and I was just using the hospital as a way to get to 100 wellness each day. Then I hit level 16, and bought this paper.

While writing this article, one main thing occurred to me: There is no rational reason why I am still playing. I somehow survived for several months without almost no help from anybody else, and still kept interest in the game? Inconceivable.

I'm not sure why I felt the need to write this article, but I hope that if you've read it to the end, I haven't wasted your time.
