A little optimism

Plenty of folks point out how Erepublik has become a ghost town. Few seem to point out that there is still plenty to do to entertain ourselves and how there are still great people hanging around. I think this should change. This game has fun aspects still. People just need to take advantage of them.

What? You didn't know about Erep's laser dinosaur module? Sucks to be you.

I look around and skim through the media of multiple countries and most of what I see are complaints about Erepublik, observations on how this game is dying, and demands that the Admins change something they do not care for. I understand these articles and where they are coming from. I share their sentiments from time to time. I even enjoy taking potshots at the Admins from time to time.

Still, I imagine many new citizens see these articles. Regardless of whether they have fully immersed themselves in this game and decided on the merits whether they like it or not, they decide that if so many other players hate it, it is not worth their time. This is a pity.

I do not know if my experience is representative of anyone else's but I am having a great time around here. Like I log in and think "Fuck yeah, this is balls to the wall fuzzy feelings n shit AWESOME." You might think, "But Shiny, the Admins are greedy and put in gold sinks galore. Weird shaped hoes take our money left and right. All my friends died. eIndos and others cheat all the time. Why is my epeen so small? This game stole my cupcake. Erepublik killed my mom. How the fuck can you have FUN now?

Stay with me now. There is still some stuff to read.

Well, I pay attention to the story that plays out in this game and try playing my part in it. Erepublik is more plagued with problems than Jessi Slaughter's psyche is after she pissed off a lot of the sewers and back alleys of the internet. Still, this game is still a sandbox of greatness. Heroes and villains like Emerick, Ramso and HankScoprio rise up all the time. The eIndonesian zerg rush creates a great chance for media campaigns and visuals. The text based nature of a large part of this game creates avenues for near unlimited creativity. Hell, I saw Michal Lodziana 1 create a "Most Wanted" program. Create and you will enjoy yourself.

This game has some pretty awesome heroes and villains. Not as cool as Dudebro but pretty awesome nonetheless.

To a large degree, Erepublik is a social network with lots of aspects that produce drama. This drama is what drives the game. This drama can be great if viewed properly. When someone robs a national bank blind, I do not view it as an awful event ruining the country. I would not rage quit or get furious. It can be used as a plot to keep people interested in the game. It is an excellent chance to push the idea of a villain committing a heist and a nation banning together to pull through despite the dastardly deed.

Let drama be the carrot that drives you and gets you places instead of discouraging you.

eJapan currently faces the eIndo PTO Cleveland Steamer. Many are disheartened by this. Fuck that. This is a great chance for activity. This is a great chance to talk to people you have not contacted for a while. We have a new plot for our story. Use it. Enjoy yourself. Post articles bitching but do not forget to post articles using this situation to fuel imaginations. You want fun? Take advantage of the strengths in this game and you will have it. The more everyone has fun, the more people will talk about fun. This will create an atmosphere that encourages activity. You just need to use a little optimism.

Doom can be awesome if you apply a little imagination.
