A few random thoughts

Day 411, 16:11 Published in USA Canada by Dillan Stone

A few random, disconnected thoughts.

1) On the Presidential election, I am declining to make any endorsements whatsoever. I have neither animocity nor admiration for the candidates - Quite frankly, I will probably vote for whoever's in last place at the time I vote, just to avoid having my vote be the deciding one.

That said, Uncle Sam has to be the prohibitive favorite, given that the anti-USWP vote is split between Justinious and Desertfalcon.

2) A recent article by GoBucks lists all 51 Congressmen, and their activity levels on various levels. While most Congressmen get high marks, a few stand out as poor. These include:

Denversbest02 (AAP-CO) - Elected 13-6-2. Octa (USWP) was second
Spadesharp (UCP-DE) - Elected 4-4-2. Moshe Dayan (Lib) finished "second" in a tie
Ronald W. Reagan (R4C-IA) - Elected 7-4-3-3. Dobo (AAP) was second.
Kid A (Yellow-MN) [USWP Ticket] - Elected 10-7-4-2. Starrysothoth (R4C) was second
Illig Inc (R4C-NE). Elected 4-3-2-1. Korak (Lib) was second
James MacKennon (R4C-SD). Elected 6-4-2. Cooper Jackson (Lib) was second
Jordan Miller (USWP-WA). Elected 16-14. Rosebudteg (Lib) was second.

The worst of the worst are:

3. Wilson Pollack (Lib-IN). Elected unopposed.
2. Denzins (Lib-WI). Elected 5-3 over Lukasz Makowski (USWP)
1. zigon1 (Banland). [Formerly Lib-NV] Elected 10-4 over El_Gringo (USWP).

The other 41 Congresspeople are rated quite highly, and should be favorites for re-election. These ten listed above need improvement (except for NV, which simply needs a new person no matter what). If your goal is to get elected to Congress, these are the ten seats to focus on.

Party Presidents, pay attention: Unless the December winners listed above improve, they should not get the nomination of your party again.

Kudos to GoBucks for pulling the information together. Now if only we could make it so eRep would show your Congressman's actual voting record in-game...

3) Ironically enough, freedom is on the march, despite all the wars of conquest going on worldwide. A friend and I were collaborating on an article which would give people hints towards surviving in an occupied country. That article will still come out, but it is unlikely to need immediate translation to Spanish, as the war in Argentina has come to a cease-fire.

It is our national shame that we were unable, with the whole of Atlantis at our backs, to do much more than come to a standstill. Romania, in Russia, fighting alone, is doing better against most of PEACE (albeit they are still losing) than most of Atlantis did, united, against Indonesia.

Warfare is almost entirely dependent on two variables. Gold, and the National Economy. If a nation can't produce the weapons it needs at an affordable price, it can't put its soldiers out in the field - this is critical for a nation like eAmerica, which is dependent militarily on a large number of relatively inexperienced soldiers putting up damage in the 20-40 range, rather than big tanks capable of doing 180-220 a pop. Since our nation and our allies have been unable and/or unwilling to spend gold (at least for Argentina's defense), we will have to go the massive-number of Q1 weapons route for the foreseeable future.

You will have to excuse me if I quietly root against Romania, however. My ideal world would be one where the world ganged up on Turkey, Iran and Romania to free all of those subjugated nations those three have, or are trying to, wipe off the map.
