A Call To EPC

The Limitations of Clausewitz

For those who don't know Clausewitz was a Prussian military philosopher who expressed the truism that "War is the continuation of politics by other means". In real life this is quite often true; if we want access to oil in another country and the Government there is being unreasonable or even threatening our current supplies then we have the potential for a military solution to our problem. Thus we hear real life politicians saying "we are not ruling anything out" etc which in fact means "we're making plans for this option".

In erep the Clausewitz formula does NOT apply: First you can't 'trade' resource bonuses as they accrue so to have that bonus is ONLY achieveable military, although this can be achieved amicably (region swaps with eUSA for example). Secondly however NO amount of military pressure will persuade any enation to change its long term policy; we wiped eUK for nearly 2 months, are they any less pro-ONE? The opposite is more likely... A military victory in erep will NOT enable you to install a freindly Government. Thus if our aim is to change the Government of an ecountry war is NOT an applicable means.

Doesn't happen in erep...

The Limits of EPC Actions

Lets look at the 'mission statement' from Addy's last article '[EPC] Rebellion Adopts a Two Pronged Approach (Day 1599)'. Here he says: "We are seeking a genuine apology from a national troll who has single-handedly created a culture of corruption and general dick-ness in eCanada. We are also seeking to establish a culture of accountability in eCanada to prevent such a thing from happening again. We aim to do this by raising the cost of indifference so that people do something about it rather than accept it and do nothing."

It boils down to three things:
A. An Apology: Well you might get one, it might even be sincere, but so what if others continue do the same? Presumably EPC understand that this so;
B. Accountability: This is largely what my recent CP campaign was about... It's not that a single person is so much of an issue but that machinery of the Government (Congress and the Courts etc) is being undermined.
C. Indifference: Well the latest opinion poll suggests that over 80% disgree with the pardon and 60% would like it overturned.

How can continuing fighting against eCanada further your aims? The majority here agree with you already... why fight those who agree with you? It could be argued that you have won the the third point (raising indifference) but NOT without returning can you possibly hope to achieve the politcal goals that you and others here desire. NO amount of military action can achieve this and your damage is largely 'friendly fire' or 'blue on blue' since most agree with you.

As Rylde says: "The time for military tactics has passed. EPC effectively proved its point by taking canada's oil region as a show of our anger towards the govt and congress. What were we gonna do wipe the whole Frackin country??? Drop hundreds of dollars on a regular basis to trade back a UK region. I think not."

You evidently care about eCanada, come home and fight for it!

Of Recent Events

In the recent CP elections eCanada was effectively deprived of a real choice. I expected no less and that was the point. Trent was elected as the 'least worse alternative' and has been doing better than I expected. I welcome the patching up of our relations with eUSA and the new MPPs re-enforce the impression that we are back supporting our allies. I doubt though that Trent will deal with any issues would lead to accountability. I wish him well and at his sevice should he need.

The return of Rylde and Armour44 seem to me evidence of split within EPC; some have understood that military option is en fin hopeless. It is time others too understood this.

There seems to be some debate about whether this new player 'Mia Angela Carina' is a multi. I personaly don't care... She has clearly set her sights on liberating a Norsefire 'Chapter' in the Top 5 and this will potentialy increase the options open to CP candidates and therefore to voters in future. It should be welcomed in my opinion, whether she be a new player or a multi.

Now with ALL this going on at home, with these factors in the public mind and clear, with 80% disagreeing with the veto: It is time for the Exiled Patriots of eCanada to return home. eCanada needs you...here!

A quick note to Iain Keers; stick to e-comics and calculators.
