2nd Regular Session of the Seventh Congress
Republic of the Philippines
16 September 2009 | Day 666 of the New World

Thank you, Mr Speaker. Mr. Vice President and Former Presidents. Honorable Members of the Philippine Congress, Members of the Cabinet, Excellencies of the Diplomatic Corps, Officers of the Armed Forces, Fellow Workers in Government, whether Elected, Appointed, or Civil Servants, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen:

Population. The magic word.

It is upon this single factor that the size of our economy, the strength of our military and the future of our nation hinges.

We need a "baby boom" and we need one quick.

But first, let's a take a look at France. Their recent baby boom was a phenomenal success, with the French population peaking at 27,000; the largest in eRepublik history. But in just two weeks, this figure went down to 17,000. An equally phenomenal drop.

This just proves that, without proper educational facilities in place, baby boom efforts can be wasted.

Real Education Reform

Before we launch major baby boom operations (which are already being prepared, by the way), we must first overhaul and future-proof our entire educational system.

The National Youth Commission

Announcing the National Youth Commission.

Inspired by the success of the National Economic and Development Authority think-tank, the National Youth Commission is a unique team of educators, education management experts, programmers, and PR- and marketing-savvy individuals, composed of personnel from the Department of Education, Department of Pan-Dimensional Affairs, and the Philippine Information Agency, as well as "visiting professors" from overseas.

The aim of this Commission is to give advice to and assist the government in "renovating" the education system, increasing the population, and making sure the new players stay when they get here.

The FAQ Project

eRepublik is notorious for it's lack of documentation, and the inadequacy of existing ones. There's no definitive Congress manual, or President manual, or Minister of Foreign Affairs tutorial. The Wellness article in the eRepublik wiki looks like the manual to your car engine.

Also, everything is scattered here a little, there a little. The Beginner's Guide can be found in a Swedish newspaper, while the Business Guide can be found in the eUK forums.

This shouldn't be. There should be one information center where everything can be foun😛 where else but the ePhilippines National Forums.

The ePhilippines forums should be a "one-stop shop" where you can find all your education and information needs.

That's why we're going to undertake a Frequently Asked Questions or FAQ project. Instead of having to make up your own questions when asked, "How can I use the hospital?", "How can I fight?", "How can I eat?", and so on, we can just point players to a yet-to-be-made comprehensive FAQ section in the forums.

The Kit-Sandbox Project

Furthermore, wouldn't it be neat if you were appointed as an Ambassador to some country, then you'd be given an "Ambassador Kit" that contains EVERYTHING you need to know on how to be an effective ambassador? How much more neat it could be if we had a "Congressman Kit", a "General Manager Kit", "MOFA Kit", "MOD Kit", or even a "President Kit"?

Well, that's the plan. But how do we get it started?

Before we can develop the "kits", first we need make the "sandboxes", basically, a bunch of threads in the forums. This way, we can "crowd-source" the content all at once, rather than try to write each "kit" one by one.

For example, the "Ambassador Sandbox" will be located in the Foreign Affairs Office section of the forums. Our ambassadors will post information or links to information that every new ambassador should know. Same with the "Congressman Sandbox", the "MOFA Sandbox", etc.

At the end of the day, we will collate all the random information in the "sanboxes" into complete and comprehensive "kits". Everyone in government, whether elected or appointed thereafter, will receive these "kits", which contain anything and everything they need to know to effectively fulfill their duties and responsibilities.

The Borg Project

Here's an excerpt from the Wikipedia article, Borg (Star Trek):

"The Borg are a fictional pseudo-race of cybernetic organisms depicted in the Star Trek universe... They operate solely toward the fulfilling of one purpose: to 'add the biological and technological distinctiveness of other species to their own' in pursuit of perfection."

This time, though, we will be assimilating the educational, military, diplomatic and technological distinctiveness of the eWorld to our own.

Last month, we started methods- and techniques-sharing between our own National Intelligence Coordinating Agency and the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation.

What if we can expand programs like these? What if we can involve all of Sol and perhaps some PEACE countries, and not just Australia? What if we expand the project to go beyond intelligence, but also education, military science, economics, and commerce and trade.

By coordinating with our foreign counterparts in exchanging knowledge, information, techniques, methods, tutorials, strategies, tactics and whatnot, we'll all end up with stronger military forces, more potent intelligence networks and more comprehensive education systems.

While this is an umbrella program of the Department of Education, The Borg Project will be launched through the National Youth Commission and the National Security Council for maximum coverage.

Wante😛 Interactive New Player Guides

To take care of our new players, we also need a team of Interactive New Player Guides. Basically "elementary school teachers.".

A full curriculum for the Philippine Military Academy is currently in development, and it will be up to our INGPs to administer it to our new players. I also have a curriculum for employees of state-owned companies in mind.

If you have a knack for imparting knowledge to others, a passion for teaching, an intimate understanding of eRepublik game mechanics, or if you just like hearing yourself talk, send me a message to apply to become an INGP.

Mabuhay!

(something inspirational here)

Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

"I AM LOCUTUS OF BORG..."

"SOME BORG ARE MORE ACCEPTABLE THAN OTHERS."

I am Bill of Borg. Resistance is futile. You will drop your decent OS and install mine. Stability and freedom are irrelevant. Your life, as it has been, is over. From this time forward you will service, us.

"I am Sinatra of Borg. Start spreading the news. We're assimilating today. You will be a part of it: the Borg, the Borg."
