Proposed Solution to Dwindling Population Problem

PHILIPPINE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OFFICIAL SEAL

Problem: Dwindling Population

Proposed Solution: International Media Campaign for Repatriation in Cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs Diplomatic Corps and the Philippine Press Club

Introduction

GRAVEYARD

Our population has dropped by over 500 citizens in the last month, according to a report by Luzon representative EZEX Lacroa in his newspaper, VEDA Terminal, yesterday. This is simply astonishing. (Source: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/wth-are-you-leaving-this-country--815729/1/20)

EREPUBLIK PHILIPPINE TEAM FACEBOOK GROUP PAGE

To assuage the problem, His Sultanic Majesty Prince Terence I of Sulu has "re-jumpstarted" a “recruitment campaign” using external community sites such as Facebook and Twitter. (Source: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/join-the-recruitment-operation-816069/1/20)

FRIENDS FOREVER

Also, Luzon representative Reclusive Monkey is promoting a so-called “Friend a Fellow Filipino” scheme. (Source: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/friend-a-fellow-filipino-815723/1/20)

While I completely approve of the abovementioned steps to curb the mortality/droup-out and emigration rates, I have another solution. Not better, but different.

According to a March 2009 survey, approximately 3% of the eUnited States population is made up of Filipinos. Considering the size of the American population, this is a pretty sizable portion. Furthermore, an estimated 14% of all Filipinos in eRepublik reside in eUSA. (Source: http://egermany.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/survey22.pdf)

While this survey is over a couple of months old now, it gives us valuable insight into the migration patterns and general mindset of eFilipinos. For example, I know for a fact that there have been RL Filipinos residing in Australia, Singapore, and elsewhere, long before the Republic of the Philippines was born.

OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKER

The fallout of the Bunaly fiasco and the Varnish debacle may also have spurred some of our people to flee in search of greener pastures abroad. For instance, it is public knowledge that a handful of our brethren have emigrated to North Korea to join a noble but, in my opinion, regrettable “anti-PTO” crusade.

*sigh* Such initiative. Such energy. Their skills and talents could have been put to better use here within our very shores.

We must tap into the patriotic spirit of our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and repatriate them.

The Plan

My plan calls for the reinstatement of the, as yet, inactive Diplomatic Corps of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

OFFICIAL SEAL OF THE NATIONAL PRESS CLUB OF THE PHILIPPINES

I recommend that the seasoned writers, journalists and propagandists of the Philippine Press Club, among others, be appointed to ambassadorial posts in the Corps, and be deployed to countries in which we reckon there is a sizable Filipino populace.

Our ambassador-writers will launch an organized, simultaneous and massive international media campaign beckoning Filipinos to return to the fatherland.

MAKATI CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT, METRO MANILA

We may seduce them to come back with bold, well-written, eloquent, intelligent and sincere articles that may highlight:
-our dirt-cheap food prices
-a soon-to-be-established Q5 hospital in the Visayas (and the prospect of MPP-enabled combat)
-a strong, stable and well-regulated PHP
-fair salaries and a competitive job market
-investment opportunities due to sparse competition in the domestic marketplace
-an organized military
-a lively, vibrant and close-knit community that is friendly to new players and that allows ordinary folks to excel in politics, media and business
-and whatnot

BOHOL ISLAND, VISAYAS

Furthermore, our ambassadors will identify and acquaint themselves with the Filipino community in their countries of assignment and, if necessary, arrange for their repatriation and safe return to the Philippines.

Merits of This Plan

It's easier.

Essentially, we're attracting skilled and experienced players to come to the Philippines. Not inexperienced players who are fundamentally clueless about the New World. So, by repatriating OFWs, we'll not only be bringing in statistics, but also their collective talents, skills and experience, which I hope will work towards the betterment of our country.

Please stay tuned...

Like all proposals, this plan is incomplete and will require much deliberation to for it to reach its final form. I shall be following up on this matter as soon as I can.

I shall soon publish a list of the members of the PPC.

May I also call the attention of the director of the DFA to this matter.

To those who would like to know more about this proposed project, feel free send me a PM in-game.
