Why I voted no to war.

Day 382, 20:50 Published in USA USA by Tiacha

President Theodore Roosevelt once spoke to speak softly but carry the big stick in regards to American imperialism. We saw this policy enacted during project Iraqi freedom. While war in some cases may be justified, I've been given no good reasons why this war is either justified or needed.

Spain is already winning the war against Peace. Why do we need to risk our soldiers with the wellness bug coming back up today? How can we be sure it'll be gone tomorrow.

While war may stimulate the economy for a while, what do we do after the war? Is this really a long term solution for the food, gift, or weapon industry? We need to encourage more people to start domestic business.

I really see no long term benefit to this war. It is the reason why I use Congresswoman Barbara Lee's picture as my avatar. She had the courage to vote no when everyone else in Congress voted yes. Congresswoman Lee was the one member of Congress to vote No on the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists on September 18th, 2001 which gave President Bush power to act against the terrorists who attacked America on September 11th. She believed that the United States should not act without thinking with an emotional response which concentrated too much power into the Office of the Presidency.

Call me a protectionist, isolationist, anti-American or what have you. I love America just as much as any one of you do. A true patriot voices her decent even when all of the country pushes for her to conform. War is coming, but it doesn't mean we need to go into it blind.
