Realistically there are only 3 major things for Ireland. Economics, IDF and War!
Economics
For too long Ireland has been piss poor in the world of economics, as such we need to completely change the way things work, and how we function.
As such, Full Communist Rule will be put into place, with the recent wipe this is the perfect time.
All Taxes will be set to 100%, with exception of Income Tax, which will be a set 75%, we know many of you wish to fight in war.
All companies will become state owned and run, each time you work, you will be provided enough food to ensure you are at 100% wellness each day. Those who work each day and are in high quality companies will be provded housing, or atleast a caravan or tent.
This will in turn push Ireland to the top of the economic ladder, all income will go towards improving our companies, improving the places we export to, and providing a stable income for army.
IDF
The IDF sucks, and as such requires a major overhaul, starting with the name, Ireland for too long as been a defensive nation, having or making force use defence in its name, brings about the wrong feelings.
Irish Defence Force, will be simply renamed to, Irish Divisional Amy.
The Army will be simply split, into those who can deploy, those who can not. Those who can deploy will be split again, into newbies, and elites (aka ninjas), newbies will be provided with weapons and limited food, and ninjas will be provided with higher quality weapons, and a fair amount of food.
Along with this, we will relaunch NF, this will mostly be our top 10 damage dealing citizens, these citizens will get the best weapons avalible, and the full 300 health, and will deploy where major and max damage is required.
War
Since Iceland has yet to be established, we are yet to be able to invade, insted via a selection of land swaps, we will begin taking on the rest of the world, for too long Ireland has sat and become boring. By swapping a few regions with the USA, we have the ability to hit quite a large area of countrys, with virtually no risk to ourselves. WIN WIN
This is my manifesto, I hope on the 5th, for all your sakes, that you elect CT, otherwise, new world order could be established in Ireland!

The title scared me.
even if this is not a joke, it cannot work out...and you can have the best economy in the world if you lack of manpower you cannot even conquer danmark....ireland need's great leadership with warfare and economy expirience, an army free of politics and with own head quarters run by players voted by all people in the regural army that gain command for a longer period then 1 month (as you can see to much changes ruin everything, just look at the whole game), the political government just decides how much and how the money is going to be delivered to this regular army....
the MoD is the conection between the congress and the president and the regular army, and every MoD get's a seat at the head quarters for the time of his duty as a minister....
then the congress can focus on economy, and the army on the defence and invading other country's (with time)...that gives the system a certain stability and not constant changes with every new country president or changes in the congressional majority....

politics have to rule army, otherwise, we will see the egreek example, with solders getting elected in all parties, under the orders and the organization of army leaders... this is not democracy
i said politics separated from the army....there is no way that the army can gain majority in the congress.... i just gave you an example of the croatian system....it works fine because you forgot one thing, politics have the money that is important for runing the army company's every day on full productivity....of course the army can have representatives in the congress but only a small percentage is alloved...
exactly, they will try to take over the cabinet so that they keep having money. the politicians should have a foot inside army instead
plus with this kind of system you are well prepared for PTO's against your country....it was just an example and put together in short lines, it's much more behind it...
well for the start you need to have some trust in other people, not everyone in ireland is driven by greed for money and power.....

As active citizens in Ireland are getting lower and lower (I wonder how much Dail active citizens can fill. Two? Three?), it is no wonder that 'soldier boys' are gaining power in politics.
well that can be fixed by program's for new players like the croatian fire lizzards, an mentoring program that provides new players with job's where they wont be screwed, weapons to have the will to continue (fighting is the best magnet for new players), and much more....if there are 6 people each day that start playing, 4 of them join this program, and just 2 a day remain this is still a great percentage....
and the only thing you have to do is put competent people in key positions, people with expirience and a devotion to help ireland....
plus, you are tallking about the army as it is a bad thing....in the army links between new players grow into freindship, no war module, no feature of the game can be so efective as this, as the comunity on the IRC....
think positive and start making changes, it's better to try and fail then to watch how you loose players and just cry about it....

I am not saying army is a bad thing, it is vital and creates a bond between citizens as you stated. But politics (breaucracy to be precise) is another story which I prefer soldiers not to involve as much as possible.
And for new players and babyboom, I have an 'Irish blossom' project still need time to be maturated before presented to Dail.
as i said separate politics from army, and it can be separated... it can be done, with the right leadership.....
a project for noobies can only be eficient when it is run by the government, or with the government's help....and it's a lot of work.... i used to be on-line up to 10 hours a day for this....
Luminara, in a country the size of Ireland, people involved with the military are also gonna be involved in politics no matter what. We simply haven't got the numbers here.
And anyway, a military dictatorship here would be an improvement.

I totally agree with you on these matters. Yet still, we need a dramatic increase in numbers of active citizens in order to achieve these.

As eRep simply permits it, it is no wonder and/or no problem if citizens are also involved in military. It becomes a problem if clash of interests and priorities are set in wrong order and nepotism becomes dominant.
Anyone involved in politics (especially those not in official armed forces) should ensure that they prioritize the will and benefit of Republic.
PS : Not accusing or implying anything but stating the fact.
you just have to start and adapt the system to the growth of the society....
If military people are the only real actives left then surely if they achieve power through their military standing it is okay?
Military and Politics should be seperated in how the operate and run but due to the nature of most militaries (to be honest not really the IDF) there is a "command" structure in which the leaders have the respect and trust of all their subordinates which is how it should be but with this comes a potential Coup D'etait which in this case would actually be perfectly legit as the most active members of the country would vote in who they want to lead which would be the military commander, this, in my opinion, is a good thing.
Ok, funny joke, but we will have to invade Iceland.

players that are members of the military are amongst the most active players in every country in erepublik....yes in some cases they can take power in some country's, but this scenario is rare because the military also has split opininons of politics.... some don't want to have anything to do with it, some are members of one party, other of another, even if this takeover of the country succed's it cannot prevail, therefore it is important that the army, the government, and the people find a compromise and start working together for the benefit of your country....work on ideas, help each other....it takes a lot but the reward is huge....
think about it citizens of ireland, you have great potential, you are proud people and thrustworthy allies you can make it happen.....
every action causes a reaction - this is everything you need to get progress....Beginnings are never easy, and they don't have to be perfect, but you have to take action...
Obviously democracy in its known and practiced form didn't work very well, especially not in eIreland.
I'm not a great supporter of democracy anyway and in a strategy/war game it is quite counterproductive, weak and dragging when quick decisions are needed.
This Idea is not new, but the best, which came along recently 😉

Us soldier boys are there cause we work hard to get power, we dont bribe people or coax people. We work are socks of and deserve a shot at running things. Take us soldiers out and you have a country ready to be conquered
