Bringing back Citizen Ads and Reviving Journalism

Day 3,580, 20:42 Published in Croatia North Korea by William Thomas Riker
I like to experiment in life. I guess that is the only reason I'm still playing this cause I always find other side of the coin, even in the boredom called eRepublik. Well, not always. Often. I mean, sometimes. Do I still? [slow realization] Oh, God! [starts sobbing]

Last article I wrote focuses on gaining RH medals on a daily basis. What's funny is I asked some people to shout the articles, and I repayed them with a list of RWs most probable to pass. For the first time in months, my article reached 60 votes and new subscriptions (it used to be hundreds back in the day). I theorized I couldn't get any new audience while the news menu on the home page isn't user friendly, and it's difficult to find a decent article in English. These days people shout only the best stuff, and they rarely or barely go beyond 100 votes. I guess the described situation confirms my theory.

I have 2000 friends, and most of them just don't care. But when 10 different players with a large number of friends shouted my last article, I managed to gain new readers. Now, I know my articles aren't that special, but I consider them decent: in English, always related to current affairs, and with a lot of Start Trek related gifs.

Excuses, excuses!

I actually had plans for an article about V1 Citizen Ads. Remember those? You could pay 1 gold for 10000 impressions. It was a nice way to reach new readers. I consider shouts to be unreliable, and want ads reintroduced.

Top right: and ad advertising Citizen Ads; bottom right: an actual Citizen Ad

Why ads? Let's say we replace gold payments with CC payments, so we add another way of flushing excess CC out of the game. Another thing is, few good articles are clouded by all the crappy ones trying to solve journalism missions and others alike. Who's going to be willing to spend a thousand CC on an ad? I'd say the ones who are good writers and actually expect votes, subs and endorsements based on their writing (insted of begging) skills.

News reporting survives well into the future

Until such a time comes, if ever, I guess I have to rely on shouts. I don't care about subscriptions or endorsements, but about the votes. They show an article of mine reached different people and actually left an impression.

A Briefing with Neelix

So, this is the deal. Whoever shouts my latest article (for the time being this one) can send me a message (don't spam the comment section) with the link to the shout, and you will receive a free list of RWs that are going to pass that day and give you the RH medal. I don't care about the text of the shout, it's up to you, as long as the link is in there.

I will also give you the links of other people's articles that I consider to be worthy readings, all in order to give the Community easier access to good writers and their texts.

What do you say, guys? Do you think a little effort is worth in order to revive probably the most interesting eRepublik module for all the players, writers and readers alike? I do.
