Day 3,357, 08:38 Published in USA USA by AlTounsi.

Hey there, I'm Senry.

Here's something. Why are our Foreign Affairs separate from our Department of Defense? I couldn't tell you.

So what does a Secretary of Defense DO, exactly?

Well for a time the job was largely to oversee the USAF, create some battle plans, and communicate with military units. Makes sense. Now I'll break it down.

The USAF is no longer under the purview of the Defense department. It's an independant, private MU. Check that off the list.
Battle plans need to be crafted in very close proximity to allied nations, if not just flat out with them. It's much easier, when Defense and Foreign Affairs are married, to talk to allies about war plans, about what's going on, to organize help, and communicating with military units of course can be done quite easily by the Foreign Affairs guys too. Better in some cases than can be done by Defense.

In re-evaluating what our country needs to function at this stage, I've determined that a position dedicated to just 'defensing' is not an efficient use of manpower, especially since as you can see the tasks of the Defense Department are easily covered as a minor extension of the State Deparment.

So I'll be expanding the role of our State department to cover communicating with military units, and to creating battle plans when necessary, thereby more or less removing the need for a Defense department. It was really that easy. With it, I'll also be increasing the size of the State department. Usually it would be mostly one person handling all of these foreign relations. Now we'll have two.

The kicker is, that the two secretaries of state, are the other two major presidential candidates for the month. Yes, that's right.

Presenting...

Secretary of State,
Derphoof

Secretary of State,
Ilene Dover

Isn't that a bit weird?

I thought so. But let me explain my reasoning.

Derphoof has noticed the need for a kind of change in our relationship with Pacifica, and as one of the most competent FA guys we've got, I think he's a good fit.
Ilene is our best FA gal up in here, and I would be pretty stupid to not bring her on board. Where Derp might lack in recent experience, Ilene makes up for it.

Aren't they cute together?

These two will work to strengthen, maintain, and change the nature of our relations with other countries. And no, it's not contradictory.

First to strengthen, they will work to cooperate more on a fundamental and military level with other Pacifica nations and with close allies. We will know all of their problems, they will know all of our problems.

Then to maintain the overall policy of the alliance. Vague, right? Basically this means they won't be pulling 100% crazy moves like breaking all of our MPPs. We won't be risk averse, but we won't be blind to risk.

Finally, they will help change Pacifica. Change how? I have a dream. A dream of a bigger Pacifica. A Pacifica that isn't afraid of f***ing ORION, and also not afraid of f***ing Orion. If you get my drift. A responsible Pacifica, but also a Pacifica that doesn't sit and hit tiny nations with sticks all the time.

We will spend and fight for our allies, at least to the point where the world no longer feels the need to mock us because of how bad we are at being allies sometimes.

Admit it, even after I explained why we don't need the DoD any more, you still feel a bit uneasy. Like there are holes left that I haven't noticed. "What about the DoD Orders paper, Senry?", or "This is going to be bad for organizing military units, Senry."

Worry not, Military units will be as informed as ever, and no, I have not forgotten about the DoD Orders paper, or general war media as a whole.

In fact, I have great plans for our entire media department.

That I'll tell you about.

In my next article.
