Sorry, Alexis.

Day 3,314, 12:37 Published in USA USA by Yui MHCP001

We’re only human.

Alexis, we, the community love to give you and your team the feedback they ask for. I personally loved writing my previous article, and seeing the vocal community agree with most, if not all of it.

However, the feedback usually isn’t as nicely framed as mine.

I was talking to another player of this game, and she told me that she had an idea of how to revive eRepublik to it’s greatest form yet.

Obviously, I was surprised and really wanted to know their idea.

She said that she were going to bring you, Alexis Bonte, back to the game.

I was super pumped to hear this, since that was what myself and many others would love to see; the creator playing his own game again, as evidenced by the following quotes:

You may notice a slight eUSA bias here…

She had their idea and the quotes that would surely bring you back in, but then they stumbled across one of your articles.

Alexis answer to a banned CP: we do listen we just don't always do what you want

The article itself isn’t what’s important here, but the comments.

Whether or not these comments hold truth isn’t the point.

Over 2300 days ago, you faced these comments and many liked them probably everywhere you went. Any article you wrote, any comment you left, and I imagine any Battle Hero you earned had comments like these.

So who was she to be the one who dragged you back into the vitriol nature of the community?

You were playing, writing, and replying, which is what we are asking you to do now, but you were met with constant insults. Any sane person can see why you left.

Seeing all of this, she lost the will to finish her pitch. Her only hope for the game, the community, “emit[ed] such a black light”, that it just didn’t seem worth it anymore.

The conversation with her made me realize you’re due for an apology.

Many will say that there’s a silent majority of players who do not act this way, but when they stay silent like the name suggests, it’s easy to believe that the vocal minority is most of the players. And sure, all of us will never agree with the decisions you and your team make, but that doesn’t mean we have to attack you. You’re only human, and we are too. We forget that we’re not talking to Plato, a fictional image created so the community can direct their hate to a non-specific entity. We forget that on the other side of the screen there is the man, Alexis Bonte, who created a game that we have bonded over.

So, Alexis Bonte, on behalf of the community, who may or may not agree with this article, we’re sorry.

And please, come back. We’ll try to be nicer this time around.

After all, all we want for Christmas is you.
