[TC4RC] This Is Who We Are

Day 3,060, 18:21 Published in USA USA by Tom Cauchon

Well, It looks like this month’s party president election will be exciting.

And I’m going to hop in on the action.

I’m going to declare my run for SFP Revolutionary Committee Chairman and Party President today.

This past month we’ve seen a whole host of activity from SFP. My unpopular decision (among the Executive and Legislature Branches) to keep WookyJack on the SFP Congressional ballot in March resulted in a blowback against SFP, and several threats were levied not only towards our leadership team, but also to the party as a whole. In a conversation I had with a member of Executive Branch, I defended my decision to keep the blacklisted Wooky on the ballot because of the need to uphold the democratic process in which he was originally placed there.

We put him there together, all the active members of SFP. We voted to put Wooky back in Congress. I cannot speak to the motivations of those who voted, but the votes were there.

Members of the Executive Branch called for my immediate removal from the eUS forum Executive Branch thread, and I resigned with disgust from a Deputy position in which no one even noticed I had obtained earlier in the month.

Several community leaders called on me to make a difficult decision and go against the will of the party. They said a leader was one who made the right decisions for the party, even if they were difficult decisions to make. I furtively disagreed with this statement. As a leader in this game, I’m often reminded of the quote:

"A good leader leads the people from above them. A great leader leads the people from within them."--M. D. Arnold

Thus, we observe the biggest difference between SFP leaders and those of the national community. I am no different than any SFP member. I am no better, or no worse. I am no more worthy of reward or punishment.

I’m not a true leader. I’ve never asked to a assume a leadership role, or forced my way into the limelight that comes with leadership. What I do understand, however, is when my number is called. This time, I feel that my number is called.

So far, Gnilraps has emerged as a main opponent to the SFP Chair position. Let me begin by stating that I do not view Gnilraps’ candidacy as a PTO. I have been a close friend of Gnilraps in recent months, most recently serving on his Cabinet as his Chief of Staff in December for a short period of time.

I am not an attack candidate, I do not wish to deface or slander Gnilraps. But I do want to make a few things clear about this election.

Gnilraps is here to change SFP. This is his desire. Whether he is right or wrong, of this I cannot be certain. But it is change that he desires. He desires change to the SFP Constitution, to match that of the eUS Constitution.

I wish Gnilraps the best of luck over the next week and I am looking forward to exciting race.

I will stake my candidacy on the following points:
1. I will always abide by the democratic wishes of SFP.
2. I will run blacklisted candidates for Congress if the party so desires.
3. I will lead among you, not as a leader, but as a Comrade and a friend. I may wield executive authority, but this makes me no greater or lesser than any other.
4. I will continue to encourage discussion between SFP members and other players around the eUS for the advancement of both SFP and the eUS.
5. I will continue to defend SFP at the national level, and insure that SFP players are given an equal opportunity at the national level, if they so desire.
6. I will not seek a change to the SFP Constitution.
7. I will continue to oppose the dictatorship, and all ways in which oligarchy inhibits new players from enjoying the game.

Thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions, please post them below, on the SFP thread, on the SFP forum, or send me a PM.

Sincerely and with respect,
Tom Cauchon
