[WRP] - Huey George for CP - expansion on economic policy
Huey George
Introduction
I'd like to share and expand my thoughts with you further regarding some aspects of manifesto namely increase taxation and spend via Government*.
*Government includes Congress, the Country President and his cabinet...although I recognise the separate duties, roles and responsibilities of Congress and the Country President's Office
A reluctance in trust and investment into the eUK.
For years we've been lead by a fantastic Foreign Affairs policy however our tax policy is primarily to ensure we have just enough to pay for MPPs. So we've not built upon the secure foundations this Foreign Affairs policy has afforded us. Any extra revenue we generate is saved for unknown reasons or invested on the MM. We don't take risks and we don't trust.
In my time, I've seen hundreds and hundreds of citizens come and go. Why not invest and trust in these citizens with Government grants obtained from increased taxation. eLife is tough however if you spend and save your gold wisely you can make good progress, this progress can be sped up by spending 'real life' money or it could also be sped up by a government willing to spend and invest into it's citizens' infrastructure* as well as it's foreign policies.
*Primarily WRM & FRM production factories with consideration for other factories
Some may consider you can't fight the systems/modules established in the 'new world' however lets challenge it and take more ownership of our own community progression. Sure we'll lose out occasionally when our trust is misplaced however in many instances we'll win with British citizens producing more Weapons, Food, WRM and FRM. In turn these British citizens will generate more tax revenue which we can invest into the next generation of citizens. Most of the risk can be mitigated as well.
We don't 'win' anything as a society in having a full treasury and a dwindling population.
How can we spend and trust
It's really quite simple, in my view there at least fifty eUK citizens/group of citizens I'd be happy to see the Government 'invest' in. Each of these citizens/group of citizens in their time will come across new or old, a long time in this new world doesn't exactly equal rich or not requiring support, citizens via Party feeds, MU feeds, external forums and the IRC.
As I've alluded to all Government money will be given out as grants not loans to be spent on infrastructure as the citizens/group of citizens see fit, this is an investment in the citizenship of the eUK for a stronger and brighter future.
The only requirement to obtain these grants would be public support obtained via publication of articles in the eUK media and Congressional approval.
I give everything I have in terms of GBP, Gold and Q7 weapons and Q5 food to the Free British Irregulars and those in my employ at my factories operating on a almost non-existent profit margin. Still I'd welcome a Government to take more tax from me in the hope we'd have more citizens living longer and contributing more to our vibrant community.

The Government grant policy described above would go alongside the investment in eUK MUs policy outlined in my manifesto and a past article. I hope you consider what I've said above and if you've not had a chance to review my full manifesto here is a link to it.
So I hope when you do go to vote, you consider voting for me.
Thanks for reading

Voted, Subscribed ages ago and I think you have the right motives to become CP
Thank you, jhon247
You'd make a great CP Huey, Just be sure to get a strong team around you that cover the one weakness that has been remarked on.
And it must feel great to know the weakness is about IRC and not your ability \o/
Thank you Acroc,
Coming from one of our greatest former eUK CPs, it means a lot. I'm working hard on my support team. So far I've got a fine, young and enthusiastic group of citizens and maybe most important some IRC active cabinet members.
"Tax & Spend" Socialism doesn't work IRL [look at the mess left by Gordon Brown!] so why should it work in a game?
and, if you cock up your figures [á la Gordon Brown/Alistair Darling, James Callaghan/Denis Healey, etc] who are you going to borrow from? There's no IMF/World Bank to bail you out.
Worthy for being CP. Get that medal Huey.
Good luck.
Thank you, BothB \o/
If you raise taxes a lot of the richer players, with q6&q7 weapons factories, have the money and the storage to simply hold on to their production either forcing prices to rise so the tax burden is effectively shifted to the smaller players who have to buy weapons in the eUK market or wait until your term runs out and tax rates return to normal.
The only weapons factories that consistently make a profit are Q6 and Q7, at today's prices before energy costs, work tax, vat and the cost of building the factory they yield about 6% more than just selling the WRM so you don't have much scope to increase taxes before they also become unprofitable.
agreed.
