[Petition] eRepublik's Broken Promises - We Want Change!
Major Lee Hung
If this reaches 100 votes, I'm going to send it in, in ticket form, to the eRepublik staff. The more votes, the more voices of the community have spoken!
If it reaches 300 votes, I'll do another giveaway. (Make sure to add me as a friend to be included in the giveaway!)
eRepublik is getting pretty dull now. Every day we log in, work, train, maybe fight, make fun of Kamikaze Kelvin in shouts and log out - only to do it all again the next day. Every day is the same.
Why do we do this? In a lot of cases, we continue to play for the prospect of change. We want an economic module, we want to be able to do more than throw gold at battles.
Where does this hope come from? I'll put this long list of broken promises in list form. Promises of change, promise of improvements, by eRepublik staff.
Error 404: Fun, Change and Delivered Promises not found.
The List:
-Limits on Wellness packs - This is one of the oldest promises I can remember. However, ever since Romper's tanking run, eRepublik went the other way in letting lone people dictate the outcome of entire campaigns. Instead, we now have energy bars which mean such tanking runs are even more accessible. The only thing they did to limit this? Split us in to divisions.
-The Economy Module - We were promised a new economy module; instead they took even more of it away and haven't even bothered with it in over a year now. 'nuff said.
-Community Storage - Community storage was an idea thrown around to make storage accessible to everybody, useful for military units. Instead, this has just been ignored and we've not heard anything of it since.
-Military Unit Reform - The current military unit system needs changing. There's very little to it, and it seems pretty crappy. We were told this was going to happen; where is this change?
-The eRepublik Forums - The eRepublik forums were our last accessible place to voice our concerns, suggest ideas, conduct trade and meet other members of the community. Suddenly, they were removed one day and 'down for maintenance', for many months. Plato's reason? They needed 'fixing'. The fix has now been completed, the forums are deleted, our hope of change defeated. It's very important these are brought back if you really want an element of community engagement.
-Work Skill - This was deleted and exchanged for a free house or something ridiculous. I talked to an admin about this, and apparently they were just being 'tweaked' and would be back within months. It's now been years, and it's still not been returned.
-Increasing the Flow of Gold into the Game - I used to have a screen shot of this one. Plato AND Alexis Bonte both said they were looking to greatly increase gold generation. About 18 months later, the gold mine came about. The result? You had to sink tens of thousands of gold for your nation to generate 10,000 gold for your community. A horrible excuse of an idea! Since this promise, more gold sinks have arisen than gold fountains.
-"Q6 is the last company quality, buy it while it's hot!" - Q7 companies.
-"We're going to make things more equal for smaller nations" - False.
-"We're going to add more countries!" - One year later, "We're not adding any more countries".
R.I.P Strategy - A long gone element of eRepublik
Cut the BS eRepublik!
This list of broken promises continues to grow every month. You promise things and then completely disregard the fact that it was you who suggested the idea is in the pipeline. This is just a handful of the dozens of promises that I specifically remember Plato, George Lemnaru, Alexis Bonte and others making.
The Economy Module
This, for me personally, is the most important thing. I initially only played for the economy module, and I continue to play in the hope that one day, a new module will emerge. Every day, this hope fades away that little bit more. Every change makes me realise that the game will soon just be a war module.
The last real economy we had - eRepublik V2, many moons ago
Remember those surveys you did? A significant amount of your community chose the 'Economy' option for what they find most important. You continued to go ahead with moving the game solely to a war game.
Give us change, and I'll continue to give you my change in form of Gold purchases!

eRepublik is funnier than ever, I spend lots of money in it !!!
just die
voted id even suggest v2 is better than what we have now
but above all id prefer v1 back
my god...
the past looks so much better...
kinda wish id found the game before I did...
It had strategy, an economy, community engagement and decent staff behind the game.
All of that is long gone and we're stuck with what we have today.
*sniff*
oh it still sucked... but at least it was pretty
which has ended up a pile of dung.... voted
That was V2, V1 was better in terms of fighting but V2 had more fancy bits.
Here's the problem. Everything you see today from the past, people back then were bitching about. Yes, there were lots of things we used to do that now look cool, but because a-holes were finding loopholes and ruining it on one hand, and many others were complaining on the other, the admins decided to wussify them until they became obsolete.
I'm hoping admins add West African and Caribbean countries soon, then I might leave the eUK.
African countries would make things a lot more interesting - especially given that Africa is about to begin an Internet boom.
"Work Skill - This was deleted and exchanged for a free house or something ridiculous. I talked to an admin about this, and apparently they were just being 'tweaked' and would be back within months. It's now been years, and it's still not been returned."
Work skill was all I strived for :'(
This is a complete run down of playing this game :
"Click my companies"
"Click to work for boss"
"Click to work own companies"
"Click on training grounds"
"Click on train"
"Click get rewards"
Done.
plus complete DO & get that reward too 😉
Yeah it ain't exactly a chess game, you really have nailed it.

Aaah, the good old day's...
...when erepublik was a Nation-simulation-game instead of a war-game.
I was expecting a nation-simulation, if you want a pure war game, play Evony. Seems I was dudded.
I used to play Evony, but i was wiped every time over and over again(so frustrating).
So i focused on eRepublik hoping this Nation-simulation-game would be more fun.
If i didn't had more then a year of extreme low activity i would have noticed sooner that it is no longer the game i signed up for.
None-the-less, i made friends here so i'll stick around a bit longer.
This game is better than Evony, Evony is a massive pain in the ass and can only be played now if you run a dozen accounts all with their own bot. You get sick of being woken up every night for years so you can defend a city for next 16 hours straight while getting trash talk from a kid, yeah it gets tired very fast that game, but there is skill to it and a lot to learn. Here I learned how to do a few clicks and you're done for the day.
TBF the break down into divisions was a good way to limit the power of individual tanks
also with the drop in gold price from 2000 to 200 might indicate that they did succeed in increasing gold generation, with more gold from BH's by division and more probably more gold from training grounds with faster SSs for those with Q1&2 upgraded.
Other than that completely agree, the economy looks like it used to be so much better!
About gold usage for training and medals, check out this article I wrote yesterday: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/2266225/1/20 - basically, you don't need any gold to maintain Q4 training once you reached it. I remember when getting a SS medal was something rare.. Now I get it every 2.7 days (on average). A lot of gold is generated this way, but it also gets consumed for training and the whole equation is close to +-0.
Nice article, I've literaly just upgraded Q 3&4 and bought my first training contract so great to see its almost cost neutral!
My thinking was that a lot of players only have Q1 &/or 2 ( which I did for at least a year) and which will generate some gold, especially if those training fully are barely losing any
Another interesting thing: A friend of mine is only using the free and the 0.19 training center (both on Q4) - it generates an average of 0.446 gold per day. Compare this to the profit you make with a Q7 tank company, and compare the prices for upgrading.. Best way to make money if you need to.
The price of gold will have gone down because the money available to people went down.........when erep stuffed the economy module.
they decreased the amount of money bot was inserting into the market, plus training contracts with saves 28 GOLD/player/month

Great article!!!.I"ll support what ever you do Joshua and I thought the same.New countries will improve this game, like Cheetah said if admins will add new exotic countries,Western African,or Carebian,I am sure that I "ll move in one of that countries.Even they add fro example Kosovo as indenpedent country,I am willing to ask their CS.I am honest and brave!!.Voted, shouted and subed.
Thank you kind sir!
when will people learn if you want change stop buying gold they will get desperate and then make the changes
Nathan you are absolutely spot on, it's those who keep paying real money who are helping Admin to keep doing what they are doing, all in the name of getting an advantage so you can occupy someones country. Stop giving them money and make them come up with better ideas and force them to change, if I was getting money for nothing I would just laugh my head off while I go out on the town with a team of very hot female escorts and partay all day n night.

The economics module enabled people who dedicated time not to buy gold, and put in time to generate their own revenue.
Linking through organisations enabled not only improved commune style models, but for a more free market and for a corporations-style management approach. I miss v1 most of all for the model it had.
But, neither of this things will promote gold-purchasing. If businesses truly came back, I and others would go back to this, and at one point I was making enough gold to more than suit my needs off it.
Hence, good article, but I doubt it will change as they would be looking at the bottom line.
A couple of African countries wouldn't hurt. We've only got 2, I think countries such as Nigeria (close to 175+ mil population) deserve a chance. Then out of Asian, Bangladesh (150mil+), Vietnam (90mil), it's known that Vietnam has a big population of gamers. And Cuba should be added too.
Basically anyone should have the right to choose between their rl country or not. If there was no Australia I would have been insulted and would not have spent more than one minute before quitting and moving on. As long as they are true sovereign nations in rl. So we won't have anyone deciding to create Atlantis or Troy.

Bring back work skills, stop people being able to work in an infinite amount of companies. Give us Orgs, don't just hand them out to contest winners!
