Georgian hymn

My icon is my motherland,
And the whole world is its icon-stand,
Bright mounts and valleys
Are shared with God.
Today our freedom
Sings to the glory of the future,
The dawn star rises up
And shines out between the two seas,
So praise be to freedom,
To freedom be praise!

Georgian history

Georgia is a mountainous country located in the middle of Europe and Asia, in the region of Caucasus. The population of Georgia is almost 5 millions, ~80% of them being Georgians. The capital of Georgia is Tbilisi. Georgians speak three different languages: Georgian, Mingrelian and Svan. They belong to the south-caucasian language family, together with the Laz language (most of them living in Turkey). The name "Georgia" has different versions of origins. According to one of the versions, it comes from a Persian word meaning "the land of the wolves", according to medieval European scholars, the country was called "Georgia" because of its love for st George. Georgians themselves call the country "Sakartvelo", meaning "The land of Kartvels"

The nature of Georgia is quite diverse, but it's mostly quite mountainous, except the plains of Colchis.

The history of Georgia begins with Colchis, a western Georgian kingdom. Colchians are assumed to be the ancestors of modern western Georgians and also Lazs. It was first mentioned by the Assyrians in the 13th century BC. Later kingdom of Diaokhi and then kingdom of Iberia was established in the east Georgia.

It was one of the first 3 countries to adopt Christianity as a state religion and maintaining it since. First unification happened in the 10th century AD.

Georgia has had many enemies in the history: Assyrians, Greeks (in various "forms"), Persians, Arabs, Turks, Russians, Romans, Byzantines but it survived all of them.
Georgia gained independence from USSR in 1992, which happened quite violently.

There are 14 unique writing scripts in the world and one of them is Georgian, which looks like this: მე ვწერ ქართულად, რომ დავანახო ნაწერი ლიტველ მეგობრებს.

The national uniform of Georgia looks like this:
