Country President Update and a Review

The first thing I did when I woke up this morning (+10 GMT) was log onto erepublik. The first thing I saw ran along the longs of you are now country president here is 5 gold.
When I first saw this, the first thought that popped into my head was. “Ah shite!”
The second thought that popped into my head was “They don’t pay me enough for this”
The third thought was “What’s for breakfast?”
As you may or may not know, I have been elected president. The rumours that are currently going around are that I will last 2 weeks before I am impeached. I personally consider myself the straight forward type so I will not do what some Country Presidents do and add flower to their words. I will publish regular updates about what has happened in the government as long as it does not affect national security.

My Goals for This Term
These are what I am planning to do for this term and may have a chance at succeeding at
• Negotiate peace with the UK and end this war so we can go help our allies and start rebuilding. This is one of the times when you just want to say “Téir abhaile riú” to the UK.
• Get my Minsters of Finance to fix up the Irish economy
• Forcefully get my Ministers of Foreign Affairs onto other IRC channels and get in touch with the eWorld and solidify the alliances we currently have.
• Set up more activities so as to get more of the Irish Community. I enjoyed back in the old days when there was the Irish University. I think this would be a great help for the younger citizens
• I hold the Ministry of Information in high regards as I believe history is an important thing to everyone. I would like to get this more active. This Ministry deals with the erepublik wiki. If interested PM Ian E Coleman
What I would like to achieve
This is what I would like to do but are not as important as my goals.
• Fulfil Marcus Suridius’ goal and conquer North Korea.
• I was checking out the Australian Forum earlier and noticed they had medal system. I would like to introduce this medal system. If you completed something like got into congress for the first time you got a certain medal or if you were part of the Irish government x number of times you would get a different medal which you can post on your avatar if you wish.
• Get the National Irish forums to become more active.
• Recruit more ambassadors. If interest Personal (Private) Message one of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs listed above.
If you have any ideas of what I should do to improve eIreland let me know. If you are unhappy about how I go about my business let me know what it is that you don’t like and I will work on remedying it if I am able to.

From what I have seen so far, this should be rephrased to "negotiate our surrender". Also next time, please do not send your ministers with lip stick on, its really hard to wash off without causing quite serious pain.

"Get my Minsters of Finance to fix up the Irish economy"
We have already started working on that - and there's plenty of room for creativity as we are practically building from scratch. However, as if markets were greeting us with a 'welcome tackle', the IEP had crashed today, sank and hit bottom. Some time around 1300 CET our whole Gold market was bought up, the Gold/IEP limit order book restarting from the 1000 level. This time it doesn't _seem_ to be a particular speculative attack against Ireland, rather a side effect of a global wave of panic raising high in the narrow riverbed of our small, isolated and vulnerable economy. So far (until midnight) we're down to 780 only, but still well above IEP liquidation limits. I wouldn't go into predictions about where the market will stabilize without consulting the Governor of the NIB first, and currently we restrict our activities to preventing further wild fluctuations. However, 'fixing up the Irish economy' might involve getting used to a lower valuation of our currency than ambitious but somewhat delusional programs and agendas had targeted (and missed) before. Soon the Ministry of Finance will publish the general agenda for the term, as well as the putting the first phase of our tax reform proposals up for an open and public debate.

GBP is in the same boat as the rest of the e-world. In fact it's doing a little worse than IEP at the moment. Don't try to talk smack, when you are in the exact same situation. It's just too easy to rebut.

Nations can set the battles they want and sometimes only one battle is all they have.
There's a big difference between screaming for help at the cost of all else (Ireland) and simply having friendly nations wanting to help you for shits n giggles.
