New Citizen Information: All About Resources

Day 1,283, 18:57 Published in USA USA by Department of Citizen Affairs
Resources are the cause for all wars in the New World (aside from good old-fashioned nationalism). Here in eRepublik, it's perfectly acceptable to start a world war over a region with oil, or any other resource for that matter. The more resources a country owns, the better their local economy is. Even better, the more resources a nation robs from their enemy, the weaker their production gets. In this article, we'll explain what resources are, how they work, and how they affect you.

There are 10 resources in all, 5 food and 5 weapon resources. The food ones are Grain, Deer, Fish, Hamburgers, and Fruit. The weapon ones are Iron, Rubber, Saltpeter, Oil, Aluminum.

Each unique resource the country owns increases the production of companies in that country and category by 20%. i.e. a country with Grain, Deer and Iron gets 40% bonus productivity to food and food RM companies and 20% to weapon and weapon RM companies.

Owning the same resource more than once doesn’t give any extra bonuses.

For a resource to count towards the country's companies, it has to be connected to the country's capital through borders, forming a trade route.

Countries cannot currently move capitals, it is moved automatically after the current capital is conquered. Since the capital cannot be moved, it's possible for a country to cut off an enemy's capital by conquering it's surrounding regions. This severs all of the trade routes to the capital and reduces the enemy country's resources to one.

To understand the tactic you can see this example based on today's (May 26th) war situation with Spain:

We own Spain's Galicia region, which shares a border with Spain's capital in Asturias. Spain's entire country is intact with the capital, giving it 5 resources. If we were to conquer Castilla y Leon, followed by Cantabria:

The capital would be cut off from the rest of the country, and Spain would only have the iron resource native to their capital. After that, we would not want to conquer Asturias so the capital stays trapped.

That's all there is to know about resources and trade routes. It seems complicated at first but it grows with experience.
