The Economist ~ Low wages, low prices, don't panic!
Spite313
Dear Friends,
Many of you are probably somewhat miserable in real life right now, what with the recession. You probably hoped playing eRep would at least get you away from that misery. However the admins have decided that this isn’t to be the case!
Even now our prices are plummeting across all sectors, and with them wages. The worst hit wages are those closest to the minimum wage. This makes advancing through the levels seem almost pointless. Business owners may even stop employing skill one and two.
I understand your worries regarding this topic. The governments of Phoenix are currently uniting to try and find a solution, though ultimately anything we do is simply a delaying tactic.
The main solution to dropping wages is a re-think of what value is. For a start, with wages, “more” isn’t always better. If prices are also dropping, then your ‘real income’ ie the amount of productivity points you can earn in wages for your labour, is constant. I’m not going to go into detail on this, because it’s tl;dr.
Value is simply put “what you get” not “how much money”. Money is simply a mode of exchange. If you can buy 4 guns for your wage and guns are £5 each, what difference if you can buy 4 guns and they’re £2 each? There is £12 difference, but the real difference is 0.
Looking at it in terms of stuff not money, the best solution in the current climate is to do what I am doing. Join a nationalised company. If you’re on a low wage or can’t find a job, and want to join the navy, then you can. You will be given guns and receive enough wages to pay for food. You’ll occasionally be given tickets to move abroad. You’ll rank up. You’ll have comradeship and support from fellow soldiers.
click the above picture to join the Navy today!
You can also work in other branches of the government nationalised program, which will be opening soon to alleviate this problem. Whatever you do, don’t give up hope. Hopefully the admins will fix it, but until then the now legendary UK finance team will step in.
Have faith in your country!

I am disappoint.
may i suggest you add a picture of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy with dont panic on it?
I would join a Navy company but I was told they are all full.
This is a great newspaper. 😃
The same is true in eHungary where wages have halved in 10 days, though prices of commodities are still low. For a L6 worker you can buy about four and a half 1* guns. In the eUK the conversion was closer to three guns for a day's wage but there owners would quite often have insufficient raw materials, or at least in places I worked.
No country has stability at present it would seem and the days of the grand massive wars might be a thing of the past.
Overall, eRep is becoming duller than a real party political broadcast but I am sure that if any group can help to keep this game from imploding through boredom and removal of gold by admin via Lara etc, then TUP and their left wing partners, PCP will make it happen.
good article as always, Iain.

COMMUNESSSSSSS
Do eeet!
every one don't panic (PANNICCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
more people, less companies?
are we producing more than people need?
have faith...
As long as I have money for bread and the weapons from the navy. 😃
Nationalisation could be damaging in the long run, we need free market forces to compete for the most skilled with bigger wages (as will happen in time) and then all wages will go up to attract labour. FREE MARKETS NOT NATIONALISATION!!
but it will have a limit at basic income. if wages of 1 would be standard, and prices go cheaper then (because of good business connections to high skill level workers) it could turn out "new manager/firms".
hope the new module is coming soon....
