10 days in the open

Day 1,051, 13:27 Published in Canada Canada by Etemenanki

So in my last article in which I asked you the people to elect me to congress, I promised that I would once more return to writing articles in which I told you how I voted and what came up. Looking back at my previous articles, I can tell you that the ones that are to come will not be quite as long, though I hope to be able to go into as much detail as I can on the topics that do come up. My spare time has simple been dwindled down far more than it used to be, in part because I am now a member of the Prime Ministers Cabinet, so I have more duties than previously. Anyways, on to the show.

Votes

1) Do you agree to transfer 1400 CAD from the country accounts to Support a Platoon Foundation? Voted Yes. This was a repayment which was owed to this particular organization. Discussion took place in closed door congress, so unfortunately I cannot give you any more details at the moment. Motion passed

2) Do you agree to transfer 6000 CAD from the country accounts to Canadian National Defense? Voted Yes. The military needs money to operate. I don’t think any of us can deny that it costs money to operate in the battlefield, and this amount was what was asked for and in general accepted by congress. Motion passed

3) President of Finland proposed a mutual protection pact with Canada? Voted Yes. We were getting quite low on MPP’s and had discussed not signing any, but just before this the admins let everyone know that the current state of MPP’s was going to be changing, so we decided to try and find as many good MPP’s as we could. Motion passed.

4) Tax change: Food. Income Tax 11% to 5%. Voted No. I cannot honestly tell you where this particular motion came from, as it was not discussed in congress at all and if I had to guess it was simply a lulz proposal that was put forward. If it was a exp proposal it was done poorly, because exp proposals are intended to change nothing when they are put forward, rather than a 6% cut in taxes. Motion failed.

5) President of Croatia proposed a mutual protection pact with Canada? Voted Yes. As I stated before, we are currently looking for a large number of MPP’s in which we want, Croatia is an obvious one we want. Motion passed.

6) Minimum wage change from 1.2 CAD to 2.5 CAD? Voted No. Another one of those ones where we have no idea why it came about.

7) President of Romania proposed a mutual protection pact with Canada? Voted Yes. More MPP’s, and this one is with Romania, so why would we not want to have an MPP with a country like Romania? Motion passed.

8.) Minimum wage change from 1.2 CAD to 500 CAD? Voted No. It has been stated in an article by Crazyguy that this was a failure in security on his part, and that a friend of his was over at his place (a UK citizen) and put this particular motion forward. Motion still counting down.

Congress

Speaker: The biggest thing to happen this month was the election of a new speaker. I was quite involved in this particular topic myself actually. I came in second, having lost to Chochi to become speaker by a vote of 11 to 13. I was quite pleased to see that I came so close, and actually had an opportunity to accept the nomination this time, as I was nominated a few times in the past and had to decline for various reasons. So far Chochi seems to be doing quite a good job, being actively involved in the conversations, as well as being firm in his judgments not allowing chaos to reign. He chose Christopher True, whom received 4 votes, to be his deputy and approached me to be a deputy as well, though I had to put off the answer as I was set to become a member of Alias Visions cabinet and would have had to have resigned only a few days later had Alias one the election, which he did. I did find it very interesting to note that a Speaker of the house nominee cannot be a member of cabinet, but that a current sitting Speaker can be in Cabinet, which is why I was more than willing to accept the nomination put forward to become speaker, despite already knowing I was going to be in Alias’s Cabinet. An interesting twist that only comes up when you actually read the constitution.

Bilingual: Currently there is a motion going through congress in which it is hoped to improve communication in French and English by all members of the government in an official capacity. The vote on this is currently going forward, and I have voted in favour of it because it specifically provides that an article will not be held back in waiting for translation, which can understandably take some time to come..

Other

Alias Vision won the election yesterday as I am sure we are all aware, and I have now become a member of his cabinet, working under the portfolio of “Labour and Income”. As this is the very first day, I am simply in the aquiring of information stage, looking to all other members of Cabinet and such for information on their requirements so I can present it to congress so we can get things rolling. I have also put together a spreadsheet on the Victory Bonds situation since it seems one did not exist until now and have presented it to congress so it can be known exactly what the state of things are on this matter. That information can be found here:

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me or any member of congress or the executive and I am sure we will be happy to help you as best we can.

Major, Congressman etemenanki, Minister of Labour and Income.

P.S. Erepublik has changed it's stuff involving links and such, hence why I am link free this time around. If anyone has info on the new ways to do such, please either comment with the specifics, or send me a PM. Thanks in advance.
