10 days and the war knocks

Day 1,113, 14:22 Published in Canada Canada by Etemenanki

Well it certainly has been an interesting 10 days this time around now hasn’t it people? In the past ten days we have seen a near total reversal of the situation in regards to the war. We have lost the territory we had in the United Kingdom and we have seen them and their allies the French come storming onto our beaches in Newfoundland and the rest of the Maritimes. A small victory was had last night in regards to Newfoundland being returned to us thanks to the actions of an American. We have since that time spearheaded an assault into Scotland. All I can say on that particular topic, which seems to have become a matter of controversy, is that we are working tactically to stop this war, not simply with our hearts.

I myself am simply glad that this particular turn of events did not come about 2 months ago when we were sitting with nothing in our piggy banks. We have managed to stock pile a decent reserve and will no doubt be needing that reserve in the coming weeks to fight off Phoenix.

TemujinBC won the Prime Ministerial election the other day, bringing him up to the lauded heights of ruler of eCanada. Under him I have continued on as my role as Minister of Finance for the country, though I am also working with nucksalltheway in these matters. Given the state of our war, it should prove to be an interesting month in this role.

My votes.

1) Do you agree on the text used by the president to welcome new Citizens in your country?' This is a test. Please vote no. That is all. ' For a while the ability to propose a new citizens message was quite bugged. This was a test done to see if it had finally been fixed. As you can see by the very existence of this vote, they fixed it finally. We are just about finished now on the new message and are looking to have it up and going in a couple of days. Voted no. Motion failed.

2) Minimum wage change from 1.2 CAD to 2.5 CAD? Not sure why this vote was proposed. By this time the admins had already taken out the ability to get experience from votes like this. Since it was not done for experience, and was not discussed in Parliament, I can only imagine it was some kind of protest vote. Voted No. Motion failed.

3) Do you agree with the proposal to issue 30000 CAD for 150 GOLD? This was a money issuing that was designated as per the budget to help us increase our gold reserves. While it costs 150 gold to print this money, the money itself generates approximately 800 gold, a net gain of 650 gold. Well worth the effort of printing the money. Voted yes. Motion passed.

4) Do you agree to transfer 18000 CAD from the country accounts to Canadian National Defense? This was a quick motion proposed by TemujinBC and linked to our usual money transfer link which had nothing in it stating why this vote was issued. As such I voted no and sent off TemujinBC a message asking what he was doing. I was quickly informed that the Prime Minister had asked him to do it because of the expected attack on London to come. We very quickly set right the link and informed those in congress to vote yes. Voted no. Motion passed.

5) Tax change: Foo😛 Income tax from 15% to 10%. I am also not sure where this particular motion came from. It has been bantered around for quite some time that food has become too expensive and that we need to lower our import rates. Personally, I think this is nonsense. As Addy said the other day in an article which he wrote, if we lower our import taxes, we lower the money that is kept in Canada, which in turn will reduce the wages that are given to the people of Canada, changing nothing of the situation. On the surface it will appear that things have gotten cheaper, but that is only because we will have less money in our pockets. Voted No. Motion failed.

6) Tax change: Grain: Import Tax from 30% to 1%. See number five. Voted no. Motion failed.

7) Do you agree to transfer 50000 CAD from the country accounts to National Bank of Canada? This vote was done to clear out much of the CAD from the treasury to save it from the attacks of the UK and France while at the same time transferring out the 30k that was issued a few days before. Apparently the Prime Minister of the UK sent us a message in regards to this, cursing us because he was looking forward to winning this much CAD. Voted yes. Motion passed.

8.) President of Canada proposed a mutual protection pact with Romania? We are in a bitter and violent war, now is not the time to lose one of the most powerful countries in the world from our side. Voted Yes. Motion passed.

9) Tax change: Iron: Import tax from 1% to 10%, Income from 50% to 15%? With the introduction of all of the lovely new resources, and the introduction of Iron to Canada once again, our Iron trade will become viable once more here in Canada. This is the first strep proposed to begin our move towards the creation of Iron. Voted Yes. Motion passed.

10) Do you agree to transfer 15789 GBP from the country accounts to National Bank of Canada? This is a chunk of the spoils we gained from the UK victories, and it became time to move it somewhere useful and turn it into gold. Quite a decent amount of gold too. Voted yes. Motion passed.

11) President of Canada proposed a mutual protection pact with Croatia? Once again, we are at war, so why not continue a good and solid alliance that we have had for quite a long time. Voted yes. Motion passed.

12) Do you agree to transfer 2113 IEP from the country accounts to National Bank of Canada? Not entirely sure how we managed to acquire such a sum of Irish currency, but we did and it became time to turn this also into gold. Voted yes. Motion passed.

13) President of Canada proposed a mutual protection pact with India? Once again, we are in a time of war. Any and all allies are welcome to join us on this venture. I would be lying if I said this one was not debated over considerably in congress though as relations with India have been difficult in the past. Voted Yes. Motion passed.

14) Do you agree to transfer 12000 CAD from the country accounts to Canadian National Defense? This transfer was done as part of a payment to the CAF that was required in the budget, while the rest of the money was transferred from an organization controlled by the government to compensate the difference. Voted Yes. Motion passed.

15) Do you agree with the proposal to issue 30000 CAD for 150 GOLD? TemujinBC came to me last night and said that we need more CAD available to us. I pointed out to him that we were supposed to have printed money a few days ago, but had decided to hold off on it at the time because of the resistance wars that were raging in the UK and had decided on the 8th or the 9th to do it. I put forward the need within congress for this motion and had TemujinBC find a congressman to start the vote immediately after I dropped the 150 gold into the treasury. Voted yes. Motion pending at 27 to 3 for.

16) Tax change: Iron: Import tax from 10% to 1%? No idea where this one has come from. We just changed our Iron Import tax from 1% to 10% a few days ago. A lower import tax will not lower the price of Iron in Canada. We are facing a world wide shortage in everything as the admins have seemingly cut production in half. Voted no. Motion pending at 4 to 21 against.

Congress.

Speaker: As is usually the case, the first and most important thing we need to deal with when a new congress is formed is to elect a Speaker of the house. This time around it was decided that Wes Lewis would take on that position. It would seem that such was to only last a short time though as only a few days into his position as speaker of the house, Wes quit congress all together and as such was removed from the position of Speaker of the House. In his parting message he informed congress that his deputy Francois L. Pignon would be taking on the role of Speaker of the house. I was of course forced to inform and remind everyone that there is actually a protocol established for a situation such as this and that an election was once again required. This time around Francois L. Pignon and Zeshan were the only ones running for the position, and just recently it was announced that Francois L. Pignon won the position and Zeshan named as his deputy. I would be lying if I said I knew why Wes left congress, nor why exactly Acacia left just recently either. *update* Acacia has informed me that he intends to leave the game when his health hits zero. I think we can all say it has been quite a rollercoaster ride he has had over the past couple months. I am simply glad that he had a chance to be the pinacle of Canada if only for a month or so's time. I also wish him luck in what he fills his now freed up time with.

New Resources: Plenty of changes the admins have introduced have caused confusion and concern in congress, and it would be no surprise that this time has caused the same problems. We were for at least a little while discussing what should be done in regards to the various taxes that we control in congress, as well as just what kind of focus we should direct to the various resources and wether we should conquer or trade regions for specific resources. It’s quite an interesting time. On Friday I actually put forward a suggestion that we could lower the income tax rate to something akin to 7% or 8% and use CAD printing to offset the rest of our costs, fairly easily point of fact. This would prove very enticing to those abroad and perhaps bring new people to Canada, as well as allowing the Canadian citizen to retain more of their CAD. So far no one has commented on this proposal, which is odd.

Advisors: Only atoms put forward a motion in the legislative, asking for a position of congressional advisor to be created. This position would be responsible for picking up some of the slack from our various and many absent congressmen, capable of perhaps voting in congress votes. I believe this matter specifically came about because of the win some current congressmen had that was viewed rather poorly, as they are perceived multiers and caused the losses of some of our more prominent former congressmen. Creating this position would then give these individuals a chance to come to congress and be active and useful. I for one am of the position that if the individuals of Canada would simply cease electing individuals who are inactive and simply looking for the prestige of the medal to congress we would not need to do something like this.

Other stuff.

So the transfer over from Fox to TemujinBC has been finished, passwords have been changed and we have gotten TemujinBC up to date on what exactly is going on in the world. All in all it has been a productive and very interesting time in congress. I am hoping to have the budget set up for Temujin and the rest of Cabinet to take a look at sometime in the next couple of days and then hopefully pass it along to congress. Given our state of war, it will be an interesting budget to say the least, I only hope we stick to it reasonably well, though I guess with a state of war such as ours, budgets are made to be broken.

Major congressman etemenanki, Minister of Finance.

P.S. Oh yes, I got my first forfeit point the other day. When that UK guy published the “secret” conversations between Acacia and stuff about mayhem, Wes Lewis singled out a specific point and said it was so fake. I dug up the logs from back during that time and found that exact part of the conversation in the logs that Wes himself sent out to us. I posted that link in a comment. Apparently that constitutes spam to the admins, who knew.

P.S.S. Oh, and I was saying to TemujinBC that I believe the budget should be fully transparent this time around, including the CAF information. Of course the only thing I think that should be held back is the proposed timeline, since that could truly be used against us by our enemies.
