1.9 : Sex, Lies, and Tinfoil

Day 2,077, 11:46 Published in USA USA by Ludonarr
Following a weekend of RL angst and eRep nonsense, I go a tad off the deep end. Thanks a lot Obama!

*Disclaimer* - There isn't actually sex in this article. Tough I know, but you're on the internet, you'll figure it out. 😉

It's election season again folks.

Most anyone reading this already knows that, it is hard not to with the campaign articles, shouts, and forum threads popping up everywhere. Come August 5th we will go to the polls and select a new leader. A leader that, for the next month, will attempt to poke and prod the lumbering, half-dead mass of our nation back towards the light. They'll attempt to right the ship and put us on a new path, a better path, the right path.

Or not...

With the consistency of death, taxes, or another Kardashian news story (wtf cares?), this election has already started to bring out the worst impulses in people.

Bickering, paranoia, skepticism, hateful words. These have all become the norm each month, and then we wonder why we fail to come together. We prance and puff up our chests, claiming "Unity" this and "for the good of the country" that, but then fail to back it up with our actions. We have parties and leaders that feel it is better to advance their own interests but then have the nerve to be indignant when others do the same.

Maybe i'm late to the party, maybe i'm naive, but it would seem the age of country>party>self has come and gone.

In its place we now place ourselves and our interests (MU, party, etc) above all else. It's a shit foundation for a strong nation and anyone with a brain knows that. If you claim not to, you haven't been paying attention.

So, how about when we go to the polls, when we discuss the merits of these candidates before us and the ones to come in the future, we focus on something different. Let us focus not on those who can best advance our own personal agendas and private ambitions, but rather those who we feel will truly do the best work for this country.

Though RL is often set aside in this game, we have a saying in the US that is placed on our coins and rightfully should be emblazoned our hearts. E pluribus unum or Out of Many, One

We come from different places in this world. Some are vets, some newfriends. Many have held positions of power and influence, many have never and will never. Some hail from different countries in RL and many are American born and bred. We have folks in parties ranging from the powerful to the mediocre and many who decline to join because they do not see the value. Whatever our backgrounds, whatever our inclinations, when we put ourselves forward to lead, when we put ourselves up for the honor of service, our goal, our priority, should be to work together in common cause for the good of our country...even if it is make believe....in a game....on the internet.

Tl;dr - Everyone stop being lying, hypocritical douche chimps and start doing what is best for our precious little eUS.

Agreed? Agreed. Nice talk.

Thanks for your time,

Addendum: We're all human, we all make mistakes, myself included. To head off anyone at the pass that would like to point out my own hypocrisy, I'm aware. Having not yet perfected my time machines (so close), the best I can do is strive to do better moving forward. Unless you can do the same, kindly stow it, I don't care.
