Introduction
Another 'A view from Parliament' and another chance for you, my constituents to review how I've spent my time representing you in Congress so far.

Law Proposals and Votes
President Impeachment
Do you want the current president of United Kingdom to end this office?
Ayame Crocodile
I voted No. I'd only vote to impeach our democratically elected country president on grounds of gross incompetence, corruption, inactivity or strong will of the people. Former CP Ayame remains a citizen who I admire and respect.
The vote ended;
7 YES votes to 31 NO votes
MPP
President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with Croatia
I voted Yes. A fellow Sirius alliance member who we are in a pact with for mutual protection, mutual advantage and mutual gain.
The vote ended;
25 YES votes to 8 NO votes in the UK
32 YES vote to 8 NO votes in Croatia
MPP
President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with Venezuela
I voted Yes. A ProSirius member who we are in a pact with for mutual protection, mutual advantage and mutual gain.
The vote ended;
32 YES votes to 3 NO votes in the UK
21 YES vote to 2 NO votes in Venezuela
VAT & Import Taxes: Weapons
Value added tax (VAT) remains unchanged at 1%
Import tax to decrease to 8% from 6%
I voted No. Once again it's been a long standing WRP policy to maintain import tax levels.
The vote ended;
8 YES votes to 30 NO votes
The Work Tax will be changed from 1% to 5%
I voted No. The member of Congress who proposed this change in Work Tax asked his fellow members to cast their votes against it.
The vote ended;
5 YES votes to 32 NO votes
Other Votes
Forums
Move Congressional discussion solely to the UK forums? I voted No While I don't mind using the forums my primary concern is that they won't be used by all members of Congress and moving to them could cause further divisions in Congress.
The vote ended;
No:9
Yes:14
Abstains: 3
Treaty
Ratify this treaty solidifying ties and local borders between the United Kingdom, Germark, the Netherlands and Belgium? I voted Yes as it was good idea strengthen our relationship with neighbours especially with the 'Resource Bonuses For Distant Regions' change on its way. NB I can't find the link to the final treaty signed however the link is to the draft I voted in favour for.
The vote ended;
Yes:17
No: 2
Abstains:1
Closing thoughts

Once again I encourage comment however please let's encourage respect in public dialogue to set a positive example that elevates the quality of politics in our country. This should enable a more intelligent dialogue on public issues to attract all citizens to take part. So I ask you to bear this in mind with your own contributions.
Also please have a read the first MoF update of the term if you have the time. It contains an insight to some of the discussion currently being held in Congress.

What about the draft for Deputy Speaker? Do you guys really need that?
I believe it is still under discussion and not yet put to the vote. I have to admit I'm in favour of it as a deputy could certainly make things easier for a Speaker and also help the training of future Speakers to ensure everything runs a little smoother.
Voted.
Congratulations on becoming MoF sir. You deserve a cabinet spot.
Thank you, Rafay \o/
Have you changed all the passwords 🙂
At last a MoF we can trust! I hope 😉
Thank you, Don o/
The passwords have been changed and access to the country's treasury is limited to only essential and current MoF personal and the CP and vCP \o/
Always interesting to read, vote.
Should congress be involved in the Emergy Fund discussion? Surely these funds are now at the government's disposal with no need for congress at all.
Maybe it's time for congress to get on with it's job of taxes, wages and alliances?
It's an interesting question, Sexagenarian...
The funds are indeed now at the Government's disposal however I like that Congress is involved as it possible represents the diversity of the citizenship of the UK better than the CP and his Cabinet in my opinion.
Although Appleby and his Cabinet could probably just as wisely use the money in the accordance of the wishes of the citizenship of the UK as they are good and fair lot in my opinion (although I am biased o/)
So, yes a very interesting one there. I'd probably be in favour of continued Congressional involvement if pushed.
The Emergy funds are still in the Country Accounts, so under Congress's jurisdiction as it will require a congress vote to withdraw the money so it can be used. So yes, congress does need to be involved.
A very good point, Congressional approval is required for funds to be withdrawn from the Country Accounts.
They really tried to move all discussion onto the forums :/ Do they not understand what disastrous effects that has on retention?
It did cause a fair amount of ruckus as you can imagine...
Adastros has written a good read regarding it, that I'd recommend a look at if you have the time http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-adastros-a-look-at-our-congress-2406464/1/20
