Introduction

My final 'A view from Parliament' including 'Notes from the Speaker of the House' for this term. 3 Natural Enemy Law Proposals for you, my constituent to review my voting and details of the search and vote for the New Speaker of the House.

Completed Natural Enemy Law proposals

Natural Enemy
Cananda has been proposed as Natural Enemy.

I voted No. This proposal was a counter proposal to Canada proposing the UK as a natural enemy. General consensus in both Parliaments were against conflict and I felt it'd wasn't in the best interest of the UK to open war on another of our borders.

The vote ended;
8 YES votes to 23 NO votes

The original Canadian proposal result;
10 YES votes to 19 NO votes

*Speaker's Notes - General discussion was to hold votes while our CP and diplomats got to work with their Canadian counterparts. Additionally if we set Canada as our NE, the UK would remain with them as NE for 7 days leaving us vulnerable to other potential enemies. After diplomatic discussion the general consensus was to vote No.

Natural Enemy
Cananda has been proposed as Natural Enemy.

I voted No. For similar reasons outlined above.

The vote ended;
5 YES votes to 19 NO votes

*Speaker's Notes - This proposal was at an inopportune time for the CP, our conflict in Scandinavia, and discussion between Norway, Poland and ourselves. General consensus remained against war with Canada although some minor support offered for this latest proposal. Outside Parliament I noticed a growing vocal media presence for war with Canada

Natural Enemy
Cananda has been proposed as Natural Enemy.

I voted No. A final attempt to declare Canada as Natural Enemy from within this Parliament. While I felt the 'support for the war' had grown. Sir Humphrey Appleby's input into the discussions at the time summed up my thoughts perfectly "Given it's election day it's a bit high-handed of us to hold the next Congress to our final interpretation of national interest"

The vote ended;
7 YES votes to 33 NO votes

The Canadian counter-proposal result;
12 YES votes to 21 NO votes

*Speaker's Notes - An interesting debate about the fun we'd have in conflict with Canada and once again the vulnerability of inviting an 'open unnecessary war' on one of our borders. Finally a little bit about how a war with Canada could work practically. I'm sure this debate will continue into next term's Parliament.

Closing thoughts

My fellow Workers' Right Party member Loyal Redcoat has become one of Parliament's newest additions. I'm fantastically pleased to see Loyal take up a seat in Parliament and feel he'll do a great job. I'd also like to wish success all the other members taking their seats up in Parliament especially my comrades in the PCP, who once again proved to be great political friends in another successful PCP/WRP coalition for Congress (Parliament).
