[WJ4PP] A good year

Day 3,186, 23:50 Published in USA USA by wookyjack

Hey party people,

How’s it going? Cool? Cool. Ilene wants a drink, so let me get her a daiquiri real quick and then I’ll be right with you...

It's been a long three months together. Summers are usually slow paced so that is to be expected, but we maintained a healthy membership rate around 120-130 over that time and still rank as the #2 party in the country. That’s awesome. Your help has made the party achieve so much, and from where I’m sitting, we still have opportunity to do more.

What did we do last month?

* We continued the tradition of hosting a smaller party in the Congressional primaries. This sort of relationship is important to us because when we were a ‘6th party’ we often were hosted by a top 5 party to get 1 or 2 candidates in congress each month. I believe in karma, and I think our party does too which is why we still do this.

* We upped the Rainy Day Cash fund from $200 to $300 salary. We lost a few members to this, but again, it's summertime, and people have other prerogatives, so I’m not as worried about that. We continue to see new faces almost daily anyways. Recruitment and retention has always been on my mind.

* Bear Cavalry military unit leadership has been turned over to Franklin Stone and weekly supplies were raised to 75 q7 weapons per week. NO COMMUNE REQUIRED. This is phenomenal!

What are our greatest opportunities?

* Party relations. We have a lot of friends in each party, but we don’t have a relationship with another party. Usually we see a Feds/USWP coalition, as that is the strongest majority in congress too, but our party is an outlier. This is fine. But on the political stage we don’t have numbers to move any legislation we might want to put forward in Congress. I can see us moving closer to the Feds and WTP over the next few months. What about the Black Sheep Party and the USWP? Well, it's not the best party relationship. USWP is polar opposite of our party and the BSP has never supported SFP endeavors; the same can be said for SFP supporting BSP endeavors as well. While there is a definite schism between our parties, we should look for mutually beneficial goals for the country. And that’s what I plan to do.

* Strength training waved bye bye to a lot of us long ago. And Bear Cavalry shrugged its shoulders and continued to fight despite the severe disadvantage. We may not do the greatest amount of damage in battle, but we’re definitely bare fisted, lips curled and spit seething from our teeth when we try to help the ever living shit out of oppressed countries. Oh hello, Plato introduced Perception and air battles? I am pursuing a revival of Build a Bear academy, or something like it and Bear Cavalry will do its best to fund and train its fighters to be the second best in the Military behind its brothers in arms: Easy Company. CURRAHEE!

* While our national stage presence can also use some work, I believe our internal party’s success and evolution in this game is tantamount to education and delivery of new players. This was my specialty when I was a Fed and SHIELD commander a few years ago. Amazingly, new players still show up for this game. There just might be a chance for them after all. I’m always ready to help new players.

A good year?

I stopped writing at this point. The movie A Good Year came on and I couldn’t function or do anything else but watch the movie. Half way through I found myself standing in the kitchen, realizing I hadn’t put away dinner, washed the dishes and the baby’s bottles. I looked at the time and realized there is only a paragraph left in me tonight. After I finished cleaning the kitchen, finished the movie, and finally climbed in bed I thought it would be fitting to leave you with my announcement that I am again running for Party President of the Socialist Freedom Party.

You'll come to see that a man learns nothing from winning. The act of losing, however, can elicit great wisdom. Not least of which is, uh... how much more enjoyable it is to win. It's inevitable to lose now and again. The trick is not to make a habit of it.

I have lost a lot, and won very little. These few victories I’ve had with the SFP have been the best ones yet. I look forward to more, if you’ll have me. The weekend is almost here. Good night.
