Howdy eUSA,

Max here and I have an interview for you today with the previous MoFA of eChile.

I had some difficulty putting together an interview series this time around for you all with the rest of eChile's government being sort of hard to get ahold of and with lots of the players in eChile having somewhat busy schedules. Fortunately, I was able to get a pretty wonderful interview with Yosemite Sam1. I hope you enjoy this article and thank you for reading. Without further ado:

Previous MoFA of eChile

MH: As MoFA of eChile what players do you find yourself working with the most across the eWorld?

YS: Easy question, mostly other MoFAs and CPs. As the primary job of any MoFA is to maintain relations with other countries and governments, I´ve to get in contact first with other country officials. Nowadays a task that can be done faster as some years ago as there are available more possibilities for communication as discord, telegram and whatsapp, and you don´t have to hang around in IRC anymore and to wait until somebody comes online.

MH: How has collaboration been between eChile and its allies?

YS: Really good. We had a couple of common operations in the past few months in which Chile acted as a buffer for our European allies using our NAP with Asteria (which expires on January 5th) and the TWs with our allied countries to protect our allies. Our AS on Spain for example had the objective to protect Croatia and Greece from attacks by Serbia. And our AS on Taiwan was undertaken to protect our allies in South Korea and the Philippines from attacks by Taiwan and its allies.

MH: Chile has been holding regions for eUSA, do you think this strategy has been effective and would you like to see it continue?

YS: Well, not only Chile, other allied countries, too, have been holding regions in the US in the past. As far as to the date that was quite effective to prevent Asteria and proAsteria countries from taking all regions in the US. In November the overall war situation made it possible to give back some regions and allow the US to have a full congress. Now in December that wasn´t possible. After Fyrom´s AS on Canada and Serbia putting NE on the US every day, the US had to close the TWs with their allied countries to be able to focus on Fyrom and Serbia.

Now on January 5th, the NAP between Chile/Argentina and Asteria will expire. And we should expect that Asteria´s primary goal will be the complete partition of the US regions among Asteria´s member countries and allies. Hence we should expect having some interesting campaigns in the upcoming weeks in the US cores.

MH: What have been some challenges for you as MoFA?

YS: There are several challenging tasks in a MoFA´s office. Most challenging probably are mediating between two feuding countries or rallying countries into an alliance. Also quite a tough task is to convince a country to change sides.

MH: I noticed that eChile recently airstriked Turkey. What's the story about that?

YS: Well, the AS was made on Turkey, but the story actually is about Cyprus.

In recent months Cyprus was watching our back in Bolivia. We have most of our food bonuses in Bolivian Altiplano, but with a determination of almost 6 any RW in that region can´t be defended. Hence we could use our TW with Cyprus to retake the region once the region was liberated.

Argentina, which in the past months maintained a TW with Cyprus in our ally´s core regions to protect the island from an enemy AS, recently withdrew from Cyprus because of the growing determination in the Cypriot regions.

Chile now is taking Argentina´s place, returning the Cypriot gentleness of taking care of our backs in Bolivia. For this reason we filled our airstrike account and undertook a trip to Turkey, neighbors of Cyprus, from where we enter Cypriot territory. We couldn’t airstrike direct on Cyprus as we have borders with Cyprus in Bolivia. Once we establish ourselves in Cyprus´s cores we´ll maintain two TWs there, one with Cyprus and another one with Turkey.

MH: What is your opinion on society and politics in eChile?

YS: As far as Foreign Affairs are concerned, there are almost no differences between the major political parties in Chile. We´ve had some serious internal conflicts in the past about how and who to run the country, but if it comes to our relations to other countries and to Foreign Affairs, Chileans pull together and head the same direction.

MH: What can my country do to help eChile and to improve relations?

YS: Well, since we resumed our relationship a couple of months ago, relations between both our countries occured mostly on government level. So what´s missing is a better contact between our communities. What could help to improve that, could be a contest for players of both countries.

MH: And lastly, How have relations been between South American eNations lately?

YS: Relations among countries belonging to Andes alliance (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela) are great. We work together almost without any problems. Besides them there are only Colombia and Peru. Colombia had approached Andes after leaving Pacifica in past months, but turned back to proAsteria under current CP Azuquitar. That´s one of the reasons Chile still is holding the region Orinoquia in Colombia. On the other hand Chile responded in december to several NE proposals made in the Peruvian congress in previous weeks, and wiped Peru. Our neighbors are also part of Asteria, but the NAP we still have with Asteria doesn´t cover Peru.
