[VoeH] The arch-enemy of the Asteria

Dear fellow players!


As you probably all knew, last month our war against eRomania ended in a very unfortunate way for us, as we lost all our cores. So now, all what we have are a few Austrian and Czech regions, to keep us on the map.


After the elections, the newly elected government started to work on the consolidation of our position. As part of this, our Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted eSlovenia. We asked them, to release a few austrian regions, which traditionally, were always in our sphere of interest. They were at first reluctant, what is understandable, because for the first time in e-history we have no MPP between us, and because of our war with eRomania we landed on opposite sides.
Yesterday, we managed to reach an agreement, regarding what austrian regions will be kept by eSlovenia, and what regions will be given to us again. According to this agreement, one of the regions they are giving back to us, was Burgenland.
So, after we finished the talks, we started the resistance war in Burgenland. First round went down as expected, according to the plans. But in the second round, romanian and serbian players showed up on the defending side and government members, influential players started to shout in both countries, that Burgenland must be defended at all costs.
This was a very disturbing surprise for us.
First of all, taking possession of Burgenland was not a part of some plan to attack eRomania, or a hostile move against Asteria, it was simply a technical necessity, because we need to reset the determination of the regions we currently own.
On the other hand, eRomania and eSerbia totally ignored the decision of the legitimate government of eSlovenia, showing no respect for an agreement made by their ally. Such an intrusion in other countries internal affairs is very disturbing, even for those of us, who have been playing this game for a long time… and all this over something unimportant, like this region-swap, which poses no real threat for Asteria.
But the most disturbing, for us, hungarian players was the explanation given by some serbian government officials. They said, that they are not bound by the given word of one of their allies, when it comes to a country in anti-Asteria stance. It was disturbing, because, regardless what happened in the last term, hungarians never considered serbians an enemy, many of us still remember the once legendary SerHun. We can understand, and respect, that in the war between eRomania and e Hungary they were fighting against us, because we started the war and they were helping the defending side. But we hoped, that we didn’t have to consider each other enemies for that. Proof of that are slovenians, with whom we managed to preserve our old friendship, even if technically we are on opposing sides now.
We were in desperate need of any help we can get last month, and we still didn’t do anything what could be interpreted as turning on eSerbia. Proof of that is in our MPP-set. So, this is why we were surprised by the reaction of serbians, against us.
Anyway, today, we have seen, that eRomania, with eSerbia backing them up, are capable of anything to keep their welfare and interests safe. This includes mixing in their allies’ internal affairs, and ignoring, or even sacrificing them.
Obviously, it is very important to fight against the newly-appointed arch-enemy, eHungary, with any means, even in such unimportant matters, like this region-swap, wasting countless resources, while others, (like eBulgaria) are fighting for survival….and this has been going on, for weeks now…..🙂
