Hello, I’m your vice Minister of Foreign Affairs! You haven’t heard much from me as I've been quite inactive in the media this month, but with only a few more days of this term in the government I’d like to act on something that I’ve been sketching out in my head for a while.
The ambassador program! Although I’m sure many of you already know what this means, here is what it is for those who don’t: The ambassador program is a thing in which any Swiss citizen (new or old) can be a representative of Switzerland towards other nations. While most of what this means is just updating them every month on our cabinet (and us theirs), this is also an excellent opportunity to be immersed into another country’s community as a foreign ambassador. As an ambassador you can work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to build our relations with the country you go towards. You can be an ambassador to as many countries as you’d like, but don’t forget there are responsibilities involved for each one.
My inspiration for restarting this program (yet again) was the creation of the new eSwiss forums, whose credit can be directed to Boomer12. The ambassadorial section of the forums will be where you can share information learned about your country.



So! Here is what you should consider before signing up to be an ambassador:

• Do you speak their language?

Although if you speak English you should be fine, supposing you do speak the native language of any non-English community please consider representing us for them. With how small our country is, it is especially hard to find people that speak languages other than those of Switzerland (English, German, French, etc.). Language is a powerful tool and if you can use it, we’d love to have you as an ambassador!

• What is the state of Switzerland’s relationship with the country?

This can affect how hard or easy your job will be, if you decide to do more than just post our cabinet. If you decide to be an ambassador to a country we have good relations with (aka CoT/Asgard nations), that’s great as you can continue to maintain and build upon our relationship. If you want to be an ambassador to an ‘enemy’ nation (aka most TWO countries), that might require a little more experience. Especially for countries nearby that we aren’t exactly friends with (aka Slovenia, Slovenia, and Slovenia), things you can say could potentially hurt or heal (or hurt) our already testy relationship. A big focus of the ambassador program will be to build connections between Switzerland and countries we aren’t usually that aware of; friends we don’t always connect with, enemies that don’t have to be enemies, and neutral countries are a great place to go if you want to do something important.

• Do we already have an ambassador for that country?

This is a no-brainer. Look below for a list of countries and their ambassadors (if they have one).




Now that you've considered these things and maybe chosen a country or two that you’re interested in, you can take these steps towards becoming an asset of the Swiss MoFA:

• Message me in game or on the forums to inform me of your ambassadorial intentions.

• While waiting for a reply, you can ensure you have a functioning account on the Swiss forums.

• Once formally appointed, you can go ahead and join their forums, introduce yourself and our government (which you can find below), and maybe give a little spiel on how things are going in Switzerland in the appropriate section of their forums.

Once established, things you might do include:

• Updating our cabinet after elections.

This, at least right now, could involve our PTO threat from The Troll Warlord (aka Cronoss) and his band of Romanians, the questionable PTO threat from Hungarians, our situation with Slovenia, etc.

• Update us on their current events on the Swiss forum thread that will be created for you.

• Relay any questions we have for them to them, or questions they have for us that you can’t answer yourself.

• Be a responsible representative of our small, yet great nation.

Make friends and have fun! This isn’t an intensive position in government, yet it’s still quite important if you make it to be. Believe it or not, there are ways to have fun on this game other than pressing that big ‘ole fight button and draining your Visas and MasterCards! 😃
