++ Utah, I am your man ++

Day 455, 16:26 Published in USA USA by Harrison Richardson

For all intents and purposes, I copyright the above method of identifying my articles with the before and after double plus sign. Benn Dover has his tildes, UncleSam has his stars, by golly, I want my own.

I am, hopefully, going to be the youngest United States Senator ever. Overlook my age, please, and look at my ideas.

I hereby announce my candidacy for the great state of Utah with the support of the United States Workers Party. I intend to announce this one article, so as to not spam the media, and will hopefully reach a few citizens of Utah on my own form of a "state trip" in my "Motorhome" touring across the state and shaking a few hands.

Now, let's get into the real game and assess some very, very pressing issues.

ATLANTIS

I have talked to a few people who have been in ATLANTIS. They have assured me and done everything but swear on a bible that it is a hellhole. With that in mind, I vigorously promote the removal of the United States from ATLANTIS. Upon the testimony of those ATLANTIS individuals, who are also not solely from the United States, I personally see no future for the alliance. It is too large, too topheavy, and lacks in leadership and structure. The army is not unified and there is no real commander. Meiko is doing an admirable job as Secretary-General but has limited powers at her disposal. Until the point where each country can say "I will appoint X soldiers to be under your command, Meiko" the alliance will fail. Too much power, ultimately, rests with each President and debate is king and action is a lowly prole. By that, I mean that while ATLANTIS has admirable goals and is a great alliance, on paper, the actions in war seem to dictate otherwise. The United States needs not many allies. We can choose allies on a want or protectionary basis, as with India. If one superpower, a la Romania or Spain, allies themselves with us, both countries are effectively safe.

Taxes
I am in favor of high taxes to support a well trained and funded military. Above all else, funding is king with regards to a military. As Indonesia has shown many times, massive damage can be done with "tank" soldiers and a few wellness packs. The higher the taxes, the optimal the income for the nation and the better investments the nation can make, both in other nations and in our own infrastructure. While I do not support the purchase of more hospitals beyond one or two more Q5's in a central state, as to protect it as a "last ditch effort" state, I do support the purchase of a Q5 defense system for most border states, population pending. I think a well placed across the board income tax at 15% and a VAT at 10% is are optimal rates for consumer and nation to prosper.

Music
Ah hah, I've got you. Never before has music been such a vital part of an election! I am a staunch supporter of any music that can be classified as "chill". This includes, but is not limited to, Josh Groban, The Fray, John Mayer, and Rascal Flatts.

A word about the standing Senator from Utah
RobertSMiller is the standing United States Senator from Utah. Needless to say, he is little more than a lame duck. He has wasted one proposal for a useless reason, posted a grand total of ((4)) posts on the eUSA forums, and has been largely MIA for his entire term. Don't elect more of the same.

I hope to talk to you all individually. I promise you to write a unique message to every citizen and not use a PM template. I truly want to talk to the citizens of Utah and hear their needs.
