[UK] Fallout 3?

Day 3,630, 04:46 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by 10 Downing Street

So that happened too.

Yesterday morning a resistance war was opened in the Colombian-occupied region of Yorkshire and Humberside. Despite tremendous allied support, an epic air battle (not actually an epic, though if Plato is watching, it really should have been) and the campaign swinging first one way then the other, it ultimately failed. The defeat became apparent roughly around 11pm BST last night, after Greek air support turned the battle for Colombia with the incentive of some crazy COs.

So how did this all come about? Back during the early days of my term, I had come to an agreement (which I intend to honour) with the President of the USA for a training war and liberation of certain British territories. Sporadic attempts to liberate various regions took place, without Government approval or support, which were always liable to fail. I had made this clear enough, and noted such in the national feed on several occasions, yet the RWs were opened to allow for some semblance of activity. I made a further proposal, which I believed to be perfectly reasonable. America accepted. Colombia didn't, proposing only to release London, the frustration of which finally resulted in yesterday's battle.

Which brings us to this morning. The USA have begun their first offensive in our mutual Training War, and within minutes of that battle opening I received a fresh proposal from Colombia. Here you can see it, and my response.

As you can see, I have made not unreasonable requests. I remain quietly hopeful of negotiating this as an agreement in the near future.

Thank you to all who fought valiantly yesterday, both as nations and individuals, friends old and new.

Congress

With a new Parliamentary term upon us, I would hope that the new make-up of the Commons will be somewhat more active than the last. Beyond a handful of members, barely an eyelid was batted during what has been so far one of the most active terms in the UK for months. Should this continue to be the case, then the UK might as well be under a dictatorship, since hardly anyone has bothered to question decisions. I want an active Congress. I want an active UK. I want people to realise that diplomacy takes time, and things aren't going to happen overnight. I want open and frank debate, constructive criticism and more involvement. I want a TUP that doesn't have to have third party MPs to prop up their own failings. I want people like AMD and Appleby to be as critical of me as I was of them (constructively, of course). I want people to wake up. Sadly, this doesn't seem to be the case and should this continue I fear that the eulogy for the country has already been written.
