'Twas the day we call Christmas
And all through the House,
Not a member was stirring,
Each was home with their spouse!

The election, not over,
Was called on this day
So some were now praying
That they might get to stay.

And many a hopeful did
Wish most heartfelt
They might be elected,
If the right cards be dealt.

So come, and be joyful,
With loud noises we praise
Those members, most faithful,
Who spend all their days

Sitting in Congress,
Er, Parliament, I should say,
And fervently thank them
On this Christmas day!
