[TUP] jamesw for party president, May 2016.

Day 3,096, 07:51 Published in United Kingdom France by Hell The Great

For the past several months, we as a party have stagnated. Successive party presidents have relied too much on council to cover for inactivity. Members are rarely involved in the various processes that open the party up, on the very rare occasion that such processes are used. As such, my term will focus on reminding the party as a whole, exactly how things are supposed to be done.

Minus Dougal and his infrequent party wall rants, few members bring up party policy - internal elections or discussions are not given the time and support to flourish, if they are done at all. The list of our failures is too long to be addressed in one simple article.

So suffice to say, the main goal of my term is not to promise resounding electoral success, nor to engage on a process of expansion; right now any new members will enter a corpse of a once great party - there is no use recruiting if a party has nothing to offer it's members anyway.

Introduction - the PP role.

The role our party assigns to party president is simple. They are the head of the TUP council, and are to be held responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of party matters. At the bare minimum, this is to ensure conference is held in a timely manner after election, so as to ensure that during any following congressional and presidential elections, party policy is clear. After conference, the party president is responsible for ensuring that a representative mix of both new and experienced members are elected to congress. Their primary goal is to represent the party, and to attempt to enact party policy. As well as that, congress members are expected to volunteer their time to congressional committees, and ministerial roles, so as to ensure the country benefits from said members' experience and activity. The final part of the role is to ensure a timely and fair ballot to select the party's candidate for the presidential elections held on the 5th of the following month. After that, of course, an outgoing PP should ensure that their successors plan(s) and platforms are well publicised to give members the opportunity to make an informed choice.

The above is nothing above or beyond what the game mechanics require, as we as a party have a long history of basing our game approach on the actual game mechanics. Fun and other stuff is of course what makes the game fun, but government and power is set out in game mechanics; it makes no sense to base how we would run the country, or ourselves, on anything other than the ways the game would actually allow us to do so.

So consider the above my manifesto. I will do what a Party President should do, nothing more, nothing less. To aide me in my month, I'm more than happy to open applications for the following party roles, and each role's responsibilities is outlined as such;

- Vice President AKA Activity hawk. My VP will be tasked with encouraging activity within council discussions, as well as during any other party business; conference, elections and such. The role will focus on opening or maintaining group messages, or privately messaging members reminders for key events. The VP would also be de-facto PP should I be unavailable at any given time.

- Secretary General AKA Mentor to all. I will task the SG of the party with essentially being a 'friendly face' to all new, or returning party members. The role will focus on offering advice or gentle reminders to players, based on game events or special deals to ensure that all members are utilizing game mechanics to their utmost potential. The SG will also be responsible for running any charity events.

- Councillor AKA Congress Guy. The Councillor will at first be chosen from our existing congress members, and will essentially act as a whip, ensuring that all congress members take part in debates and votes. The Councillor will record activity and pass this on before any congress election to ensure inactive or feckless congress members are not kept in congress at the expense of others. During May's congress elections, the councillor role will be opened up to the party, with the eventual replacement occupying slot 1 on the party ballot.

- Spokesperson AKA spokesperson. Basically a media assistant - Should I be able to find someone suitable, I'll be tasking the spokesperson with firstly ensuring that party recruitment articles are constantly being published. Their other goal will be an image and article consolidation, with all useful TUP related images or articles being stored on the wiki for future party officials' use.

Anyone interested in the above roles should of course, drop me a line
