[TRG] Still the Same
J.A. Lake
I decided to read the campaign articles, and noticed something similar between Melissa Rose and DMJ. Namely, that their cabinets are almost identical.
Let me run the numbers for you. Of 9 cabinet-level positions announced by Melissa Rose, 5 are the same as DMJ's picks and 1 is used by DMJ in a different position. That means we would see 6/9, or 67% of Melissa Rose's cabinet is no different than DMJ's.
From the other side, DMJ has announced 10 cabinet positions, of which 6 are the same as Melissa Rose's and one is used differently. That means 70% of DMJ's cabinet is identical to Melissa Rose's, though he's shaved a few people out.
Guess what, guys?
You cannot claim to be bringing new blood into the political game if the cabinet stays the same. Israel Stevens had seven cabinet positions per this article of which 5 will be continuing into the new cabinets. 71.4% of Israel Stevens' cabinet is moving into the next one either way.
What can we take from this?
1) Our Government is Not Inclusive
They talk a big game, but really look at this. 67-70% of players in next month's government are going to be the same players as last month's. 71.4% of players are going to be the same regardless.
Are they taking on deputies? That's cool. I guess none of those deputies are good enough to pitch in to the eUSA's governance during what could probably be called the most boring and protracted period of decline in the country's history.
No way they could handle that.
2) Denver's Revolving Door
Israel Stevens' VP and Chief of Staff are running against each other this month. If that's the pattern to follow, look for JadenA, Raccoon Goon, or Disco Musolini to run next month if the winner does not seek reelection. This is all dependent on nothing major happening in the next month (and given our insular and isolated foreign affairs, I'd say that's pretty likely).
3) We Are "Shooting Ourselves in the Foot"
Look, friends and not-friends. We lose the right to complain about activity being awful when we do everything in our power to make activity awful. Our next cabinet will be 71.4% the same as last month's cabinet. State will be the same, regardless of your "choice". The NSC will have the same chairmen. Department of Civilian Affairs will have the same leadership. The Press Secretary will be the same. Jaden A will be serving somewhere on her inevitable march to the Dictator's chair. The only major difference is the Secretary of Defense pick.
We don't get a choice. Rather, maybe we do get one. We get to decide which member of the Old Boy's Club gets to wear the Dictator pin this month. Otherwise, the cabinet will be the same. The game will remain the same. We will all remain dreadfully bored.
The eUSA must have better to offer than the same 5-9 people serving in the government month after month. I, for one, will not vote for either cabinet. I'd actually like to see them merge, since they're all the same people, and run against PilotPhil. DMJ and MR can co-Dictate, since they'd be practically the only different body filling a position.
Think about it before pulling the lever on the Fifth.

Who would u like to see there who is not in a cabinet position? Cause maybe people is not willing to fulfill any spot anymore 🙁
It isn't a matter of who I want to see, it's the fact that despite the talk of getting new people into government we're seeing 6 out of 10 people coming back to the same positions this month.
There is practically 0 turnover, we're not getting any new blood. People think the game is boring and I agree, but I would add that we're doing nothing to help ourselves in that regard by putting the same people in charge month after month.
The question was if there's people who is willing to take over. I don't care what they say, in campaign articles most part of what people say are either lies or things that are not gonna happen, that's why I mainly see who is the people in charge.
The point is, is really anyone interested and capable enough to take over? Maybe they just did not have an alternative to let new players hold positions because those new players are not interested themselves, dunno.
That is potentially true. I also have experienced first hand the cliquishness and exclusive attitude of this cabal, and am inclined to believe this also has something to do with it.
When I came back in November and since then I became DSOM and SOM within two months. Anyways I am glad for the opportunity. Anyways I am open to other cabinet positions that anyone feels I could be good in if provided the chance.
The only real difference is DMJ has been CP twice and Melissa Rose has never been CP before. Outside your good points made at least MR should have a chance at CP which would in one essence to think about would be someone new in the CP position. In the end I have no idea who I will vote since its hard to tell difference between everyone's ideas and what new positives can be brought to the game.
Nobody "should" have a chance just because they declared their candidacy. If there are no new ideas and no new people then I don't see a good reason to vote for MR.
I have zero good ideas and I am running!
That puts you on par with the other two!
the funny thing is how true this is.
Would I lie? 😛
I would lie
They're using my people, because my people are baller as fuck.
It's no statement on the quality of the people, just that there's little-no new blood in there.
I like the term "baller as fuck"
And you were using mine...because mine were baller as fuck.
THIS IS WHY NEW PLAYERS ARE LEAVING.
No opportunity=No goal for new players=I don't want to play this game
Your fundamental premise is right - there seems little difference between the two candidates. Neither of them have put an idea up and most of their team are the same. So we are voting based on a popularity contest? Like this is high school again...
I don't quite agree with your analysis about month to month continuity though. There needs to be some continuity when an incumbent steps down. Hand overs are a bitch - inevitably something gets forgotten or lost. Changing the whole executive team every month would be worse than having the same team every month. It does seem very...cliquey...
Where are the outsider candidates? Pilot Phil is a great troll candidate, but he's never going to mount serious opposition to the major two candidates. What happened to the SFP? They used to have great people from outside "the establishment", but I didn't even see a congress article from them last week.
two articles from the Old Fucks.. we got four of eleven SFP seats.
Doesn't seem proportional to effort somehow. 2/2 articles but only 4/7 seats?
Anyway, seems PilotPhil is making a serious troll-run. Still never going to get up against an establishment candidate. At least it's entertaining to read.
I'm not sure how much continuity is necessary on an official capacity. It's not like someone is unreachable after they aren't in office, it's as simple as sending a PM to get advice on something.
There are other ways to get new blood in an ensure continuity, as well. Have a new guy be Secretary, and get an old guy to be Deputy. It's not an excuse that we "don't have enough people" or are afraid of a lack of continuity.
One player has all the buttons. They should be doing all the work if they want to be the goddam cpdick
I volunteered to assist our eGovernment in January of this year. On February 28th, I was assigned to take over the administration of tQuestion of the Day (QoTD), part of DoCa. A few days ago, Melissa Rose asked me if I would be be the Co SoCa during her term. So in less than a month, an outsider and Black Sheep Party member, was asked to be part of heading up an eUSA government department.
I had no expectations or really any motivation to move higher in our eGovernment but someone came to me. Perhaps the way to become involved and be included is to volunteer? It worked in my case and no one can factually claim that I'm a member of the "cabal" or "elites" or any of the other terms used for the ruling group.
The above stated, that does not negate the OP's general points. I am merely relating my recent experiences.
This isn't a statement on anyone in particular, but one on the fact that we will have 71% of last month's cabinet carried over no matter what into two cabinets that vary from each other by as little as 33%.
In short- our vote matters less because we get the same thing either way.
In short - your premise is faulty and you refuse to acknowledge that fact.
Go find me a player who has expressed a desire to be involved and has been excluded without cause.
Note that I said WITHOUT cause. Breaking our rules regarding immigration or how we administer the dictatorship is cause, so please do try again if you're going to mention someone who blatantly thwarts the rules and then expects to not face repercussions for doing so.
If I wanted to attack Jessina or Schubert or Aramec or whomever for being a dirty dirty elitist I would have.
My point is and remains that there is too little turnover month-to-month to really do us any good in terms of activity and "fun."
Yes, I did note in my first response that my comment did not negate your assertions. I responded mostly to let other players reading your article that their first step in getting involved, is to volunteer to be involved, 🙂

[intensifies SFP cabinet shuffling]
"If that's the pattern to follow, look for JadenA, Raccoon Goon, or Disco Musolini to run next month if the winner does not seek reelection."
"Jaden A will be serving somewhere on her inevitable march to the Dictator's chair."
....I am not running for CP next month. Lol. And I have been put on both Cabinets because I'm a good worker. At least, I hope that that's the reason. *shrugs*
I feel like your heart's in the right place with this article, don't get me wrong. But what we should be targeting is complacency as in, people who do the job poorly. There's plenty of em. The argument isn't change for change's sake - it's that there can be better results.
The answer isn't a 1 party revolt or anything. There needs to be a community effort. I don't outright blame anyone for divides rn (I voted against the Blacklist, ftr), SFP has started up some things with violating IES law, running blacklisted congressmen....etc. Most of the conversations I've had w/SFPers seem unwilling to consider SFP can do wrong - which is, straight up, not going to build this community.
TL😉R- you're good people man, but this screams ideology. Not a bad thing ofc. But it's not gonna build the community in the way you want it built. I feel like you might know this.
This wasn't written with any ideology in mind, really. It began as I said- I read the articles and thought they had strikingly similar cabinets. It struck me then that we had little actual choice this month as in others and I committed that thought to (virtual) paper.
Really the only recommendation I offer is to stop putting the same people to the same job month after month. We whine about a boring game, but we only seem to have the same 10 people playing it this March and April. What sense does that make?
