[The Fourth Leaf] Congress Elections and Rolling The Ball To Me

Day 1,773, 00:13 Published in Ireland Ireland by Leprechaunlad

Hello,
Another late article from me I'm afraid! I've been exceptionally busy in RL recently and there hasn't been much in the way of pre-election news. In this article, I'll be discussing what I intend to do to help the situation with new players and how the congressional elections went for the various parties that participate😛 It certainly was an unexpected election for most! This article will feature:

The Fourth Amendment:
- The congressional elections - A boon for some and a warning to others?
- New player education - What am I going to do to help?

The Fourth Guinness:
-Jokes, humour and wit - The announcement of the results of last weeks riddle

Congress - What happened? Who were the winners and the losers?

Saoirse - 15 congress members
Saoirse has benefited from a massive recovery in the days following its rebranding under Thanatos the Great. I put to him the challenge of reviving the party following its exceedingly poor turn out at the PP elections and its near-decline into third place nationally. He has certainly managed to do this, with great success: membership has grown massively and the renewed activity of the party is reflected in the quite stunning congressional results...with the party managing to get most of its candidates into office.

ILP - 13 congress members
The election turn out for the ILP was comparatively decent, returning a number of members which would accord somewhat to PP participation levels: therefore reflecting neither and increased nor a decreased level of activity within the party. Although there is no immediate danger posed, the results of this election were extremely positive for the ILP but suggest that it is losing ground to Saoirse. Could this be a start of a period of political bipolarity for eIreland?

IFP - 6 congress members
The IFP is what I'd consider this election to be ''the little party that could''. The IFP had an excellent performance which is reflected in their obtaining a disproportionately large share of the vote. Through a sleek and optimistic advertising and policy campaign, I think they performed at their best and are certainly a party to watch for the future.

IUP - 5 congress members
My very own party - we didn't quite achieve the ''revolution'' that the leadership predicted, but we returned a good, strong and improved performance. The bright stars of Saoirse and the IFP obviously cost the IUP much needed election ground, but the awakening activity of the party is enough for me to predict that next election has the potential to provide a much greater congressional breakthrough...which is something I intend to help towards.

IK - 1 congress member
The IK saw no real change in its election performance this election, returning Lexone to congress on a radical and very honest worded campaign. The IK's future in the congressional elections isn't assure😛 It faces competition from below and above and with a low turn out like this, it seems that Lexone will have a fight on his hands to keep his party in the top 5. With this, I wish him the greatest of luck.

The congressional elections this time round were fought on a new system, a system which gave Party Presidents greater autonomy regarding the candidates which entered congress. Certainly, it saw a massive success for Saoirse and the IFP and strong performances from the others amongst a battleground where parties were forced to redefine or restate their policies, leading to a broadening of the political scene in eIreland. This election marks the start of several shifts in eIrish politics, one which I intend to keep my eye on.

New citizens - Rolling the ball to me

In my last article, I moaned about how to help new citizens and how important they are for us. I realised that the only reason I remained in this game after the first hour, as I said in my first article, was due to the kindness of the eIrish community. Now it's time for me to give something back and I'd like you to help me. I'm planning on starting a programme for all new players, no matter what political orientation, party affiliation or MU attachment. I intend to:

- Message all new players with links to important resources (boot camp, the forums, IRC, wiki etc.)
- Offer a mentor service so that any new players can have questions answered by me (and others, if others wish to volunteer).
- Write educational articles about eRepublik and many of the community aspects of the game.

I'm looking for contributors to this project. If you want to contribute, please, send me an in-game message with what you can offer - no contribtion, however small, will be wasted. Community is key to the survival and growth of eIreland and I'll do anything to help keep that going.

The IUP - Rolling the ball to me in a much smaller way

This week, I intend to work on some IUP and INA wiki and advertising, if anybody wants to help, you're most welcome to 🙂 I'd appreciate a historical perspective on the party. Furthermore, I'd encourage everyone to do the following:

Congratulations to ayame crocodile for winning the riddle competition last week, 10IEP heading on its way to you, my good sir.

exams -

Paddy caught cheating in his school exams asked the teacher how she found out, it was easy replied the teacher...Murphy sitting in front of you put down for question number 10 i don't know and you put down, neither do i...

madness-

Paddy & Murphy are working on a building site.

Paddy says to Murphy 'Im gonna have the day off, I'm gonna pretend I'm mad!'
He climbs up the rafters , hangs upside down & shouts 'I'M A LIGHTBULB! I'M A LIGHTBULB!' while Murphy watches in amazement!

The Foreman shouts 'Paddy you're mad, go home.' So he leaves the site.

Murphy starts packing his kit up to leave as well.

'Where the hell are you going?' asks the Foreman.

'I cant work in the dark! ' says Murphy.
