[TC] [#2] SFP Sponsored Game Guide -Media-

Day 3,721, 22:04 Published in USA USA by Max Tse Tung

Hello USA,

It turns out the Freedom Writers Guild and the SFP have decided to sponsor the creation of a new set of player guides. This one will be about the Media and how to write articles.

Writing articles can be more than just typing up an essay on what has happened recently. Articles can be a source of income for the author and a source of entertainment for the audience and much more. First things first though; in order to write articles, one must have a Newspaper! That's right eRepublik lets you have your very own Newspaper where you can publish all kinds of stuff. In order to get a Newspaper one must pay 2 gold. This is a measly fee compared to the value in cc one can potentially make.

After you have successfully established your Newspaper you should start thinking of a basic premise to write your first article on. Most people tend to ask for comments to finish a mission but if you are truly dedicated you should write your article on something.

Keep in mind, you could literally write an article on pretty much anything assuming it complies with the Terms of Service of eRepublik.

When trying to come up with an idea for an article be creative. Some people choose to write about specific topics in this game such as Politics, Economics, or Social Issues. A great place to start would be writing about/for your party. All parties have a Spokesperson role in which most use as media director. eRepublik is full of people who will collaborate to make your work as best as possible and writing for a party is a great way to meet such individuals.

Once you've got an idea and you begin writing you must remember that some people have been playing this game for years so it is best that you do not try to deceive them. You must give quality content if you have any hope of getting votes, endorsements, or comments. It is even more important that you include the necessary tweaks to your article to make it visually appealing. Often times players can get away with posting short articles without much editing but it never looks aesthetic. The 'tweaks' that I am referring to can be found in the toolbar of the article editor. These tools, when used in the correct way can organize your articles on a level that rivals even the best authors.

Here is a rundown of all of the tools located on the toolbar of the article editor. These tools, when used in the right combination, really can help to convey any message you would like to put forward in a concise manner.

Now, I would like to stress that though eRepublik has a somewhat adequate article editor for this game, There ARE better ones out there. If you want your articles to look as best as they can, try out this editor. I'll provide a link below.

Ignorance is never better than knowledge. -Enrico Fermi

A large part of writing articles is knowing the tools of the toolbar and organizing all of your information in a way with respect to those tools. Once you master a particular layout you can then write your articles with ease. At the end of this article, I will include an index of Code for the various tools. If you can remember the various codes, you will not have to use an article editor so this knowledge can help speed things up a bit.

Before I get to that I would also like to talk about the impact of graphics and artwork. Graphics and Artwork such as Headers, Page Dividers, Footers, Side Graphics, Data and Graphs, Memes, and Entire Articles (sometimes) Can really make or break your subscriber count and vote/endorsement rate. Provided, you put out quality content. If you can manage to create good graphics either in photoshop or through a graphics software taking the time to do so can really help your material. Please keep in mind all artwork should be appropriately sized so it can fit in your article.

Data can be one of the most valuable pieces of information to an author. If you can get raw statistics to back up your claims in an article your audience will be much more enlightened and ready to accept your argument. Displaying of information can be done via adding in Tables and Columns or by creating charts and diagrams in a graphics software of some kind. My suggestions for free Graphics is to use Google, Google Drawings, Gimp, or Paint.net. For higher quality image software it will cost a lot so I do not recommend buying. At least for eRepublik purposes.

Lastly, before I get to the Code Index I would like to say that there is so much potential in writing articles. You can interview people, Entertain, Gain a following, Report on in-game events, and use them to run for politics. To tell you the truth people are coming up with better ways to use this module by the day.

Using this walkthrough I am 100% certain that anyone can post high-quality content. To recap I went over in this article how to use the toolbar on both article editors and went over some of the basics of article creation. If you feel that there was something that I missed feel free to tell me in the comments below.

Hope you enjoyed this guide! -Max o7
