[SP] Concession speech

Day 809, 01:34 Published in Austria USA by stancel

Borojevic von Bonjar won. The SP got in third place, with 13% of the vote.

I wasn't really expecting to win. In fact, I was already preparing myself for writing this. But I ran with the intention of being elected. The truth is, my approach in my political campaigns has never been about my ego. I didn't run just to get some medal. I wanted to be President because I knew there were things I could do to make Austria better.

I don't attribute our loss to harsh tactics, trolling, or whatever. There was a lot of that against us, but we're not a big party. Oraizan had IA and OIP supporting her, Borojevic had KU and NFA supporting him. The size of a party and the size and number of parties supporting it can determine its victory. To make my point even clearer, the election was already won before it began.

I never understood why Rot Weiss Rot was changed to Kronloyale Union. It went from being about Austria's flag to glorifying some long gone past in RL where a Kaiser sat on a throne.

As I said before, we don't need a person to rally around. We have a country for that.

In ten days, I will no longer be Party President of the Socialist Party. My term will have ran from November to February. In that time I have helped put the party onto a more productive and energetic road.

I am disappointed that I could not use the position of President to make Austria stronger, and to put us on a path of progress.

I wish Borojevic von Bonjar good luck in moving Austria forward. I just hope that's what he actually tries to do.
