#5 - Problems eRepublik is currently facing

I think it should be clear that you could fill like hundreds of pages by talking about the problems eRepublik is currently facing. I would like to give you a basic list of things I have identified before and during my visit. Again: It’s not a complete list but feel free to leave some comments about this topic. It’s important to actively speak about those issues in order to get a better overview of the overall situation.

Last but not least I will collect all of your comments in order to create a solid foundation for a discussion platform about the future of eRepublik I am currently planning.

#5.4 Politics

I think I don’t need to go into details that much while trying to introduce you to this topic. The current implementation doesn’t really encourage players to get involved into politics. We got dictators who deal with everything, while they do it there’s a huge disadvantage for congress members as they don’t get any gold, they don’t even got the possibility to decide anything as a country is ruled by a dictator - and I mean, as much as I love META Gaming, for me it isn’t fun.

So, let’s start with some problems!

Dictatorships aren’t balanced enough

- Dictator gets about 55 gold per month, congress gets nothing
- Players aren’t involved actively into the politics
- Country communities are literally dying because there’s no activity required anymore
- Opposition can’t fight dictators as it’s just way too expensive to fight dictators (1 million currency?)

New players don’t get involved

- Maybe think of a regional congress and / or regional ministers
- Maybe add some kind of career ladder, from regional to national congress
- In general: Add more political positions or titles players can claim for themselves

The current amount of laws can’t represent politics of a country

- Extend its functionality to add more possible laws
- Maybe create a way to have kind of local investments by the government
- It’s no real challenge to decide about a hand full of laws

A general lack of activity

- Again this is in close range to the things I mentioned above
- Maybe somehow force politicians and future politicians to get active over time
- Reward them for active engagements in the political module or by having regular discussions about the country’s future

What should be changed in your opinion? And even though I didn’t mention it directly in the list above: How would you implement for example a regional congress (as this was also a topic in the last weeks/months)?
