[Res Belgica] Congress Elections And Why You Should Vote For Us
Habraka Abrivianius
Fellow Belgians,
Tomorrow the 25th of August the Congress Elections are upon us once again, like every month. However, this month's elections are likely to be of grave importance and might very well determine the future of Belgium as we know it.
As most of you will have heard, The Netherlands have proposed to declare war on Belgium. The Dutch president, in an alcohol induced state decided to bully our country into paying 450 Gold to avoid a Dutch invasion of Belgian sovereign territory. Now, the war declaration vote will not pass in the Dutch Congress, but the tone has been set. There is a growing anti-Belgium sentiment in The Netherlands, and recent events might influence the Dutch population and policy-makers into a more radical corner which includes expanding Dutch influence over Belgium.
Therefore, it is imperative to vote for the Res Belgica candidates for this month's Congress. The Res Belgica candidates are all active and experienced, one more than the other, both of which are key for a rapid response in case the Dutch vote to invade Belgium next time the issue comes up. It might be tomorrow, or within six months, but I rather be prepared for any eventualities and have nothing come of it instead of thinking nothing will happen and then end up getting conquered due to negligence.
If elected to Congress, Res Belgica and myself will be striving to revive Belgium politics and look for ways to increase activity and player retention among the general populace. We will also strive to establish and maintain good relations with some of the bigger countries out there, in case we find ourselves in a situation where we need to defend ourselves from Dutch and Phoenix aggression. Needless to say, the expansion and increased training for our armed forces will be a top priority now that the threat of invasion has increased dramatically over the past few days.
The Res Belgica faction in Congress will aim to work closely and intensely with our president Thore Thoreson to safeguard our independece, with our without allied assistance, and finds way to increase our weekly income without raising the tax levels to unjust and disproportionate levels.
We will also try to work as closely as we can with the other Belgian parties in Congress, under my presidency, Res Belgica will aim to reduce petty party politics (try saying that fast ten times in a row) to a bare minimum, as we all need to work together in order to further our country. Members of Congress do not get elected to throw mud at each other, they get elected to do their damn job and improve the lives of it's citizens. That's what you expect, and that is what you will get.
Our list of candidates is as follows:
Brussels:
Habraka Abrivianius
MaryamQ
Jacob van Artevelde
Flanders:
Mike Woolridge
Rithulme
Wallonia:
Helviro
Stonix
Sammy Thanghe
These are all fine and active players, and I would like to see each and every one of them elected to Congress, if only because they deserve to be there. With a team like this, we would be one step closer to a strong and independent Belgium, and it step closer to a Belgium that matters politically, economically and military in todays eRepublik. I hope you, the voters, will agree with me on that.
Vote Res Belgica!

"Res Belgica will aim to reduce petty party politics". Let's all work together for eBelgium!
This is an excellent slate of candidates. i hope each and every one gets elected. I look forward to working with my friends in Res Belgica.
good ppl in congress.
wow it is wonderful to see how a big party uses up all advertising space. How much gold are you wasting on this? At what rate are you buying impressions? Cause it isn't normal to constantly see 3 ads from Res Belgica. The ads should be there to give the smaller parties a changes as well. Thanks for removing that option. The Res Belgica I came to know didn't resort to these kind of tricks. A pity...
A good Party President will do anything in his power to get his candidates elected. Also, we have not removed any option previously available to you. You are still able to put up as many advertisements as you want, providing you have the Gold for them. If you lack the money to fund your election campaign, perhaps you should look at changing your communist ideology to better suit the realities of today. Money = power.
We had ads but they didn't show because your impression/gold rate needs to have been very low. The admins will love you for it. But in an ecountry that has a very low gold supply that isn't the best thing you can do.
So if I hear it correctly you are not left inspired at all and just PTO the party you thought you could do the most with?
I am still shocked that a new citizen of 2 weeks becomes PP of the second biggest party and puts HIMSELF as CP candidate. I would think the CP position should go to someone who has been working for eBelgium in the last months and not to someone who hasn't been in eBelgium for years.
First of all, while I appreciate your concern, you have no business with our internal party policy. We will choose our own Presidential candidate, not the Party President of the BCP. If you wish to partake in the discussion of who should become the Res Belgica Presidential candidate for September, by all means, come join Res Belgica and discuss the matter with us, as all our members can. Second, PTO? I suggest you to not throw accusations around so carelessly. A PTO suggest foreigners trying to take away a party from the native population's control against their will. This accusation is completely incorrect, seeing as I am not a foreigner, I am Belgian in real life and I was the only candidate for the Res Belgica Party President elections, so there wasn't anyone contesting my candidacy nor the election result. Now, if this mud slinging contest is over, I would like to get back to more important matters, like running a country. Thank you for your understanding.
No mud slinging intended. Only said what I observed.
Your strategy with the ads was clearly intended to keep non-Res Belgica ads from appearing. And worked with great success. While it is a very effective strategy it seems wrong to me. This is not thekind of behavior I would aspect from the wonderful party I came to know (and was briefly member of).
As for you putting yourself as CP candidate. Personally I think that a PP should not run for CP, except he is a one man party and has no other strong candidates. Res Belgica is not a one man party and has plenty of great candidates.
Neither do I find it fitting that a stranger (even if you have been an eBelgian long ago) runs for president after only being a eBelgium citizen for two weeks. Whether you are a RL Belgium (me too btw) or not (our current president isn't) isn't really important. But that we know you for a few months shouldn't be asking to much. First let us get to know you in congress skills. Show that you can get re-elected in congress. Show that you aren't only here to get a CP medal and leave with the sun. Invest time in the community.
Running for CP after two weeks of citizenship looks very arrogant. And absolutely no respect.
And yes these things ARE important cause they have direct relationship to running a country.
Res Belgica hasn't even announced it's Presidential candidate yet. The discussion is ongoing in our private forum, you will know, together with the rest of Belgium, who our candidate will be soon enough. Whoever our candidate will be, it'll be decided by the Res Belgica members, not me. If you are referring to me currently being the *in game* candidate, that's merely for placeholder purposes.
Of course I am talking about in game.
I don't understand why you need to put a placeholder. Doesn't make sense at all.
