[Q&A] Merger of the Irish Socialist Party and the Irish Union Party
Gerald Smyth
Party Presidents Gerald Smyth and Andrew M. Baker are proud to announce the merger between the Irish Socialist Party and the Irish Union Party to form the Irish Socialist Union Party.
Why?
Both parties share similar beliefs and are small in size. This merge would create an even stronger party fighting for our Irish values.
How?
We understand change can be difficult and we would like to make the transition as slow as possible.
When?
We will make all significant change after the Congressional elections and before the Presidential elections.
What does this mean for me?
A stronger party, a stronger ideology, a stronger Ireland.
What does this mean for the Congress elections?
If you're a member of the ISP, nothing other then more voters! We encourage Irish Union Party members to vote for their Socialists brothers during the elections. If you're a member of the Irish Union Party and want to run for Congress, please join the Irish Socialist Party now and we'll support you for sure!
How will the change exactly happen?
After the Congressional elections, the Irish Socialist Party will change it's name to the Irish Socialist Union Party. We hope at this point everybody will make the switch. Then, we will fade out the Irish Union Party by the end of the month.
Who will be the Party President?
Technically, Gerald Smyth the more experienced player will be Party President however Andrew M. Baker the Irish Union Party's elected official will serve as co-President. We would like additional Union Party leadership, though. We have plenty of support within the ISP but, we want strong IUP support. This is a merger not a takeover.
But I liked the Irish Union Party/Irish Socialist Party before!
I know change can be difficult but you'll have the same people, plus more allies and a stronger say in our future. If you do have a problem please message one of us in your respective parties.
Which party will the Presidential nominee come from?
We don't know. We are open to suggestions. We may perhaps nominate another party's candidate this time around just to be fair.
I have another question?
Feel free to leave us a comment or message Gerald Smyth or Andrew M. Baker.
What can I do to help?
We need you're help! There's plenty to do for our party. Logo design: we'd like to merge the two logos and make it look nice. Anybody want to do that? We also need to spread awareness. We're strong already, but together we're even stronger!
Also, we'd both like to thank everyone for supporting Unity and voting for us this election.
Sincerely,
Gerald Smyth
Party President of the Irish Socialist Party
Ambassador of Ireland to the Ukraine
Andrew M. Baker

So ends the oldest active political party in Ireland

If you's do want to merge why not both move to IUP. Noting against ISP but IUP's history should be kept alive.
Too bad about the IUP. But even with this merger, the IUP might be back one day.
It's not the end of the IUP. Let me make that clear. It's strengthening through unity.
what the hell are these noobs playing at?
And you had near unanimous support from both your parties? You conducted votes before merging parties that tend not to vote with eachother and destroying the IUP and ISP?
There was a poll at one point very few people replied, friend.
So, based on the nonresponse of people you all decided to force the merger? I'll have an article on this soon with information messaged to me by people in both parties.

We are not bailing out on the party to join ISP.
You are a week old account declaring marshal authority, but that cannot force people to listen.
You are more than free to make that decision for yourself, though Andrew.
I wish you well in your new home.
Excellent work on quickly making an alt a week ago to run unopposed in the IUP elections. I don't know who your main account is, but I can hazard a few guesses. 😛
If you want to be a leader of men you must give them something to follow. Your new account has not earned a reputation to convince people to follow you and kill one of Eire's oldest parties.
Retardation, and it will be undone next month.
"And you had near unanimous support from both your parties? You conducted votes before merging parties that tend not to vote with eachother and destroying the IUP and ISP?"
No he did not. There was no communications of these plans with IUP members. There were no PM's and the party feed has no discourse about abandoning our party. He made this declaration on his own accord, with authority he felt was implied by a sniped election.
The IUP is not dead.
Though Andrew will find a strong new home in the ISP. There are good people in the ISP. I wish him well.
