[Presidential Statement] The United Netherlands???

Day 814, 11:14 Published in Netherlands USA by Mitch Rapp

Are we still the United Netherlands (UNL)? If we are, why is Belgium then no longer part of that union and seems to be very independent? That are some of the questions people have been asking me and the government. These are very understandable questions that carry a lot of weight with them.

Before I answer these question I want you to remember why we united in the first place. The union between the Netherlands and Belgium was done with consent from both countries and their populations. We both benefited from this in many ways such as a larger market and therefore better economy. More citizens means more gold for MPPs and more damage in battles and therefore more protection. Belgium got access to a high raw region which brought it much needed economic growth and investment instead of the current need to import all raws. So the conclusion is that the United Netherlands was good for both the Netherlands and Belgium.

Now, Belgium is no longer an official part of the union as the country has its own government and makes it own laws. Does this mean that the United Netherlands no longer exists? No, the current situation of Belgium being separate is one forced upon us, the Netherlands and Belgium. Our surrounding nations (Spain, Poland and the USA) are part of EDEN and therefore will always attack us if there are no consequences. Belgium regions wouldn’t be protected by MPPs so we would be fighting them 1on1 something we can’t win.

Many citizens in Belgium have shown a great interest in uniting once again as soon as EDEN has lost their interest in Belgium and things calmed down. These citizens know that Belgium has much to gain from the United Netherlands and they understand that we are stronger together. That is why we know that in the end the Netherlands and Belgium are meant to be the United Netherlands because it is better for both.

So the government and I have decided that it is in the best interest for us all that we shall remain the United Netherlands . We feel that in the future we will again merge with Belgium. We choose not to change the name to eNL because we feel that the efforts needed to make the change (new forum, IRC channel, different orgs etc) aren’t worth that one letter.

Our core values and what we believe in remains the same so the United Netherlands will remain as well.
