[President] Update on the situation and general battle priorities

Day 1,510, 19:33 Published in Sweden Sweden by Valnad
Due to the many sad attempts of trolling recently, by players who can't seem to read very well, I've decided to start out with a brief statement:

1) Our Military will not support RWs in Jamtland Harjedalen for the time being.

This is the only region that has value to Finland (deer) and they have expressed a will to hold on to it. We can't stop people from fighting there, but they will not do so on our orders. This does not mean that we're giving up the region, but we'll just postpone the liberation process while peace talks are taking place.

2) We will instead focus our fire in other RWs, if they seem possible to win.

But every damage we can spare should be sent to ABC countries, as I think Romania has overstayed her welcome in the Baltics and she has no intention of letting them have their countries back peacefully.

3) Peace will come to Scandinavia again.

All presidents (Fettis, Tommy Skaue, Maine Coon and I) agree that this is what we want to achieve. There may be some disappointed Finns who would've liked to see Sweden without regions a while longer, just as there will be disappointment among the Swedes who think that Finland should be punished for wiping us. But I believe in the friendly spirit between Nordic countries and we're the only ones who will lose if we can't find our way back to how things used to be prior to last summer.

Having said that, let me make one thing crystal clear:

We brought this wipe upon ourselves by upsetting the nations that attacked us.

Romania wanted to see us gone because we left EDEN and because they're still upset by vingaers trolling back in 2010. Russia wanted our aluminium, and since it would also mean that they would please Romania, it was a win-win for them. Finland wanted to set Norway free and Sweden did not release the regions when they asked our government to do so.

I've never claimed otherwise.

But it is time for us to turn the page and start over.

As a reference to what you may expect from me in the future, here's a summary of the wars I can be held responsible for in the past:

- War against Denmark, when they were under Croatian PTO, and we were in EDEN. Not very popular with the Croatians at the time, I might add. This lead up to the Scandinavian union: Homonavia.

- I've also fought against Lithuania, to get a hold of their Grain region. We took the grain, but then settled the matter with a peace that has been kept ever since. Now we support their resistance and fight for Lithuanian sovereignty.

- War against Norway did occur a few times, when we swapped regions. It was a win-win situation for both countries and was sanctioned by both governments.

- War against Germany. This also ended with us becoming rather friendly with one-another, much at the dismay of the Swedish oldfags. I still like Germany, even though I'm not supposed to, due to us being in different alliances. But they've never let me down so far, so I have no reason to change my ways just because some trolls want me to.

- War against Russia. Oh, that one was fun! We had all the raws we could get our hands on, and every other country in sight was either an ally, a friend (Norway and Finland) or something in-between (UK). Russia was more powerful than us and I thought we needed the challenge. They beat us with the support of Chinese mastercards and then China sent us back to Norrland again. Nothing much changed between our countries, we've never had any diplomatic relations that I know of. They needed to find a new NE and and that's all there is to it. I've never felt any bad blood between Russia and Sweden that goes further than the competitive and spiteful comments connected to either winning or losing a battle against them. Swedes think it's fun to beat Russians, and vice versa. But we don't hate each other over it.

As you can see, my record show that I have no intention of fighting the kind of wars the common eRep trolls are so keen on promoting. In my world, in the Northern part of the map, we should aim to fight wars that gives us a fun experience. And once we've settled our scores, we can all have a beer together and exchange war stories.

I know that somewhere between my last presidency and this one, we lost track of where we were going. We started taking friendships for granted and mistreated our neighbors. I know that, and there's no point trying to deny that it happened. I've also stated this fact in several articles before and this shall hopefully be the last time that I have to make my opinions clear on these matters.

I will not deny that I like all the Nordic countries very much and if we are ever to fight wars against each other again, let them at least be more like the wars Grev Per fought against the FBS-ruled Sweden of the old days: with a beer in one hand, a glimpse in the eye, and by doing youtube propaganda speeches. For fun.

Denmark is now part of a Germany that just got its whole bank emptied by a rogue president. I have sent my regards to the German representatives and I must say that it's always sad to see these things happen, no matter which country it occurs in.

Norway is still under Serbian PTO and I'm keeping myself informed of the situation and my offer of help still stands, even though we as a country can't do very much now that we haven't got any borders left. But Finland got their NE going and will gain initiative after winning the Norwegian attack on Svealand (yes, it's awkward, I know). My offer of reimbursing Norway for the theft caused by the Serbs still stands, just as I shall hope that somehow, someone will find a way of reimbursing Germany. Start a fund raiser, anyone?

Finland is eager to let go of the war against Sweden and wants to move on. At least their current President wants to, and I share his thoughts. I expect us to sign a formal peace treaty this week. The devil is in the details, but we'll find a way.

Dio says hello, btw.

He's still very much Swedish, waiting for the first snow to fall. The weather forecast is a bit unclear on the matter, but it should be here soon. He also sends a general thank you to everyone who makes sure that his gag lives on.

I also asked him whether he would consider working for the Swedish government again as our ePaki ambassador, but he felt that the game had become too boring. Such a shame, he's such a nice kid.

That's all for now. Stay tuned though, there's bound to come more soon.

Yours sincerely,

Valnad,
President of Sweden
