I'm very glad and proud to announce that both Malaysian Action Party and Democratic Action Party supports the idea of running on an official "unity" ticket on the upcoming congress elections which will allow us to defend against the takeover attempt as effectively as possible.
A few days ago on the party president elections a private Brazilian group has taken over the two smaller Malaysian parties and renamed them. You can check HERE and HERE. Their intent is to fully take over Malaysia by getting the majority in congress and later the presidency and thus forming their very own state which they want to use as a base for their group. Of course this is something that we shouldn't allow to happen.
This is why we effectively decided to cancel the race between the parties for these elections. It might seem undemocratic but it is needed for our survival. And as NAR Henry very nicely put it in his article it is the decision of the democratically elected party presidents and of the president and the official candidates will be chosen from the most reliable, respected and active citizens of eMalaysia by their respective parties.
And what are the advantages of the unity ticket?
- If we don't race against each other we can channel votes a lot more effectively and thus will have a lot higher chance to survive the TO attempt.
- If we have an official list of candidates (preferably running from the same party technically) we make it a lot easier for domestic and also for foreign voters who will arrive to help us from other countries to follow our elections and identify to whom should their vote go to.
According to plans there will be 18 first tier official candidates whom we'll try to push into congress by all means to guarantee us a solid majority and a group of second tier official candidates as well who should be voted only if we are leading comfortably to guarantee a 2/3 majority as well. The list of official candidates will be published and well advertised before the elections and on election day we will have a regularly updated article and probably a Google spreadsheet as well where you can always see who needs votes at a given point.
Please look out for news regarding the coming elections and if you are a member of DAP or MAP then please contact the respective party presidents with questions regarding the candidates delegated by each party to the unity ticket. We will also have the two small taken over parties represented on the unity ticket hopefully for total cooperation.
All I can say is that I'm very proud of the Malaysian community and that we will do our best to save the country and that I'm perfectly sure that we will survive. With people able to work together this well it's evident.
😃
Best regards,
Nagyzee

Good Luck . It`s better if the official candidates run from the same party . Also , if you can make an avatar with your official language saying to vote for candidates from X party .
Good luck again
Although I'm feeling apprehensive, I'll join in.
if we all run from the same party we only get 9 people per region running.instead of having 18 people in each region. would that not leave them a large # of seats to take.
No, it wouldn't.🙂
First of all we might very well have some loyal non-official candidates in the other parties as well but 9 people per region are also easily enough.🙂
If everything goes according to plan, I will change the name of the party to something like "Vote for candidates in DAP" - keep abreast of the official announcements.
Good luck, we're fighting something similar in eSingapore 🙁
ok sounds good
this should definitely work. My main fear is that the wrong people will be chosen from the forums, but if we take say 5 experienced players and 4 less experienced players per region, we should have a decent mix. Maybe more old ones and less new ones. well, the more i think about it the more it looks like half or 3/ of malaysia is in congress. wierd.
