Proposal for discussion: 'Removal of NMU budget'
Guidelines: The NMU - National Military Unit, established by parliament, administered by the MoD currently has a budget of 250k allocated. Congress is reminded that this discussion is NOT about the current state of the NMU or it's future. The proposal is merely seeking to dissolve the budget and thus reduce potential expenditure. It's worth noting that the NMU hasn't yet been a burden on the public purse as the allocated funds have not been utilised.
Proposal for discussion: 'Introduction of congress awards system to replace mandatory payout'
Guidelines: As voted for recently, a 5 gold payment for returned congress members, which has not yet come into effect, could be replaced with a more efficient and publicly popular system as yet to be devised. Note the speakers proposed system of rewarding commitment and outstanding political endeavour was widely rejected by vote. Therefore a newly devised system should seek to be different in that will gain support. Once we have one or more ideas short-listed, a representational vote will be called to select an appropriate system, if that should be voted in and receive congressional majority it will replace the previously passed '5 gold for returning congress'.
Reminder that discussion points do not require voting activity, hopefully members will take the time to eloquently respond with structured debate that makes their position clear.

Removal of NMU budget - Although I don't support the NMU itself, I don't support this motion. It should be given a chance, if that means intervention is prompted for, so be it, but taking away an allocation for resources that hasn't even been used seems nothing more than a statement of negative attitude towards the NMU. I don't see heavy demands on the budget that would benefit by axing future funding.
Introduction of congress awards system to replace mandatory payout - Whilst I'm not against the idea, I'll not be offering to aid this. Whilst some of the ideas have merit, I did feel the previous motion for an award based system was heavily defeated, it it had been a close thing or had constructive comment then maybe it would have been worth exploring. As is, I fear any proposal that doesn't provide cash-in-hand for returning congress members will not be supported either by those brash enough to call for it or those who remained silent, using a covert vote.
Removal of budget: But the fact that it hasn't been used surely means that the same amount of money could be used elsewhere? I am all for revitalizing the NMU though but till that happens I don't see any point in budgetting for it. I am not voting to disband it however, just voting to stop budgeting for it before it actually wakes up and becomes something or atleast has a plan to.
Congress Merit: I was in favour of the merit one last time around and I will be in favour of this too, that said I highly doubt it will pass. The last one didn't. And the reason it wont pass is the same as the reason the last one didn't. Congress wants money that they are greedy for OR are owed by the system but taken away due to dictatorship (depending on which perspective you choose to have) but I would like this to pass.
Well, I have a negative attitude towards the NMU, I don't even consider it to be a national MU, only a regular one as the others. For me they saying "oh, we haven't used a single pound from the budged" is not good, they should use it, it is the NATIONAL MU, use the money for supporting fighters, inner MU competitions or whatever...you either are the country's MU or your not.
If the NMU spent money, people would complain that it's using money that could have been spent on the existing MUs (I know this because people who thought the NMU had used the country's money did complain).
If the NMU doesn't spend money, people complain that they aren't using it.
This is why we can't have nice things.
You shouldn't always listen to what people are saying...
And yes, I say that the money could be spent on other MUs, but I also say if you are the national MU, then act like one.
Sorry, you told me not to listen to what people are saying, so I listened to that, so now I can't listen to anything else you say.
Unless you aren't a people, then I could still listen to you.
But how would I know if you're a person or not unless I asked you and then listened to your answer and risked listening to the answer of a people...?
What confuses me even more than that though is the idea that in order to be the national MU we have to spend the country's money. I always thought being a national MU was about directing damage to support the nation's aims and fostering a sense of community and national identity. None of those things necessarily need to cost the country anything. I know expecting to be paid for things we should be doing anyway is de rigeur these days, but if the NMU can support itself through communes, why spend money just to make it look like we're doing something?
So you don't need a budget, ok 😃
They've said that they never used it, so I guess they don't need it...
And about the other thing, I don't care, I just want to see how will next month function with the "100% attendance - 5 gold" thingy, who will take it, who won't, who will donate it, where, who will keep it, who will be the moralist crybaby, etc... 🙂
And to any UKPP members reading this, of next month you have 100% attendance, Pannonian Nomad gives you 10 more gold 😘 o7
1. Yes
2. Yes so long as rewards are limited to weapons or food, and there is a small budget to cover expenditure..
If there was a vote to repeal that awful give yourself 5g rule I'm pretty sure itd be a close vote.
1. NMU should be removed given the fact that their output wasn't the greatest one.
2. WRP strongly objects to the shameful 5g return idea, plus the idea that the Congress members should be paid for what is considered to be their duty, since they voluntarily applied for a seat in Congress.
With the 'Introduction of congress awards system to replace mandatory payout', if any of you congress members need moneys to pay for strippers and cocaine etc, just hit me up 😉
The NMU succeed in it's task, it asked the question to the UK, 'do you all want to work together to make something better?' - to which the UK said, 'fu*k no! We want fish.' and carried on it's business. It did this under budget and it tried it's best for a different outcome, but the UK loves fish and a population fractured into little groups of people doing there own thing.
I don't know why this is even up for debate, the UK's sterling performance in the resource wars gives you less than 12k a day tax on a normal day, you can't even afford to spend an extra 250k a month.
Why would an eCuban citizen be spamming an eUK discussion?
Just asking.
Commenting on media outside of the country you have citizenship in is now spamming? I must have missed that new update.

Proposal for discussion: 'Removal of NMU budget' - I think this would be acceptable, any funding required by the NMU can be submitted as a clear proposal of spend to Congress as and when required. I'd personally also like to see more reports from the NMU (DOs set, Supply structure, Supplies provided etc)
Proposal for discussion: 'Introduction of congress awards system to replace mandatory payout' - I'd suggest it's best just to remove any monetary incentives for Congressional Representatives. Do it for your ideals or the ideals of your party, if that isn't enough don't candidate yourself to be a representative of your party or the UK
Yes, please remove the budget from the NMU, otherwise how will we be able to pay congress to type the word "Aye" every couple of days?
Yes.
He's got you there
I agree remove the budget.
Removing military expenditure and instead paying your politicians.
Are you guys really going to be that stupid?
Really?
Like really?
