Dear eRepublikans:
As you go into this election day, you may very well have made up your mind about who is the better candidate to lead you forward into the future. Although I don’t expect anything I say here to change your vote, I hope you will consider the following when you make this or any future voting decision.
“But Maryam”, you may say, “why are you trying to get me to (re)think about my vote?”
That’s right, folks! If you are bored, it is because you made it happen. If you don’t like it, change it!
What you see as truth depends heavily on your vantage point. Having been on the other side of things for much of my eLife, my perception of Wild Owl’s diplomacy is very different from that of those who consider him a foreign affairs genius. Consider the recent chat logs where he apparently said that he thinks Jude is beneath him, and you may gain some insight as to how he treats people in other countries that he does not see as useful to him.
History is ALWAYS somebody’s story about what happened. When you throw around accusations of revisionism, you are really only pointing out that somebody is telling a memory of what happened from a point of view other than your own.
Repeating something frequently does not make it so. For a long time, people in Europe believed the world was flat.
The way you perceive things becomes your reality. That does not make it Reality.
Is it possible that by listening to others’ repetition of certain “truths” you are allowing yourself to be screwed?
Please take everything you see in the media – including this article – with a grain of salt. A lot of people are telling you their truths. That does not make any of them Truth.
Nevertheless, keep an open mind, evaluate what is said, think things through, and vote for what makes sense to you. Don’t give anyone else the power to decide for you. Take responsibility for your own eLife.
Dare to dream of a better eAmerica. Only you can make it happen.
