FORWARD

This is the third article in a series of articles that I committed to producing as PP of MOO. The renaissance of MOO is not a second coming of the old MOO, it is a reclamation project of a great party that got derailed and involves a renovation so that it is relevant once again to the eCan political community.

The focus of today's article is Opportunity #3: Forgive and forget.

Help me reclaim MOO as we all work to reclaim eCanada.

Opportunity #3: Forgive and forget...

I wasted a solid year in this game because I was butthurt and holding a grudge. I was not prepared to forgive and I certainly wouldn’t forget. What a fool I was, it wasn't worth it. Holding onto bad feelings and continuous resentment doesn’t accomplish anything, it’s just bad kharma and breeds more bad kharma.

People will not always apologize for their mistakes and misgivings, and that does not prevent you from forgiving them anyway and letting go. Without doing that, you can’t move on.

Some people will apologize in a genuine way, and it’s not easy to do that. Forgiving them respects that difficulty.

How this applies to eRepublik…

This is a massive multiplayer game that is dependent upon interactions between citizens. Some of those interactions are going to result in transgressions. Not moving past those transgressions will limit the potential of citizens, parties, MU’s, countries and alliances. Forgive, forget, and move on.

eCan could not have moved on as a community without a significant "forgiveness" of he who I shall not name for the sake of keeping attention away, and forgetting I suppose. This act of forgiveness speaks to the power forgiving itself.

To clarify, I do not advocate remaining oblivious to history. When you “forget”, you still retain the learning and the experience, and there will be reason to be wary or cautious in the future. Forget means to let the past die, no need to bring it up and open wounds; forget about it.

On how MOO will promote this platform...

MOO will look for ways to "Forgive and Forget", to support wrong-doers in making an apology and in supporting those wronged in offering forgiveness. These aren't easy tasks, and a broker or mediator or third party often greases the wheel to get it done.

Ideally, MOO members will look for opportunities to broker forgiveness, either in inter-party relations or international relations or even MU or inter-MU relations. This will be key in building the type of community that will be attractive to citizens.
