[MoHA] Press Release & Caption Competition (Updated)

Day 3,771, 06:01 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office

Weekly Press Release - Sunday 18/03/2018.

Afternoon all. This is the press release for the week gone, where the government publishes updates from each Minister about what they’ve been doing, where they are and where they are going.

It’s a good idea to subscribe to this paper to follow the updates and games published by the MoHA.

Ministerial updates

Prime Minister - Jamesw:
“Firstly, I've been stressing the importance of helping our allies as a key part of our foreign policy. As real wars have broken out across eRepublik, it is important for us to stand by them, and reap the benefits of getting stuck in ourselves. You will have noticed that we have launched an Airstrike.

We go to war: erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/204313

Other than that there's been a steady build up this week, culminating in two events I'll be looking to make regular: NPF and AD - New players friday and air day. The former, is an attempt to get the new players who're chilling in Discord, responding to messages and generally doing more than just 2 clicking, but not getting involved in the community to do so - with some but not really obvious success. I hope a continuation of these events over the course of time, and parties/MUs directing their new players to get involved in such regular events, could help in the future.

The air day is because our normally quite regular 10-14% weekly increase in air damage, is for some reason now at ~4% - improving your air rank is the quickest way any citizen can become a useful soldier on the battlefield, and the more people we have improving their air rank, the more important we'll be to our allies, and the more successful we'll be on our own battlefields.

Additionally, we've finally got our Romanian MPP back, meaning we're basically almost full of Asterian MPPs now, being short of portugal and peru. As things stand, our current MPP stack is adequate, and I think any new MPPs should probably be signed in place of non-key MPPs in our current stack. Portugal and Peru are both training war heavy, so there isn't much support we could get from them: but they don't need our help in their training wars either. So those MPPs aren't something I think we need to pursue in the near future, unless the great world war starts sooner than everyone thinks.

Outside of that, the only real 'progress' I can claim this week, is our group messages. I cannot stress enough how important the community aspect of the game is, and the whole group message formula is a way that I'm trying to use to get people to interact and engage with each other. Damage coordination is key, and it is something that is important in and of itself, but the be all and end all, isn't just coordinated damage: but continuously coordinated damage.

Messages that spread orders can coordinate damage, but messages that reward engagement, encourage people to get involved and do things will mean that people aren't just fighting at set times; they're fighting every day. Thus, once the final draft of our group messages is completed tonight, I'll be adding domestic tasks, in line with recommendations and events from MoHA and Woldy. My hope here is that we combine the previous value we had in MoHA orders and MoD orders, but use a new format to account for the fact most people don't read the media anymore. Domestic missions (post an article, shout, do something else) with rewards, combined with COs, free weapons for medals and other related things should hopefully instill a real community in the message - I'll be spending the majority of my free time tinkering with these to try and find a format that hits the sweetspot.”

Minister of Finance - Huey George:
“A quieter week for the MoF with a continuation of the recording our daily snapshots of the economy eUK to add to the long-term records and managing our Government and BoE Trust Monetary Market Investments. Rewards have been distributed to military units based on their air damage.”

Minister of Foreign Affairs - Aaron Mark Daniels:
“Mans been performing diplomatic affairs. Talking to our new friends and old friends alike. Also been receiving countless TW requests and I’ve basically told them nah.
Looking at some interesting proposals R.E alliances but nothing concrete.”

Minister of Defence - Dave Trenga:
“Due to real life, MoD has not been as active as preferred this week. However we still released our rewards article and will host the National Strike on sunday 03.00 - 05.00. Daily strikes have also started and are being run mostly by Jamesw.”

Minister of Home Affairs - Mr Woldy:
“I’m hoping to build more steam this month (pun intended) with some active helpers with an interest in community engagement using alt platforms such as steam, supremacy and of course discord. Hopefully this breathes a second wind into some of the community who may want to stick around on eRep for the community that thrives off-site as well as on.

We are hoping to gather a list of articles and tutorials for a one stop shop of guidance, and I’m engaging with the NHS about how the ministry can work with them. The mentor scheme is working with several new players receiving help from the mentors. Great Scott! Plods on as always!”

Caption Competition!

No one participated last week! It’s almost as though no one reads these things… I’ll put it down to disappointment over the rugby; and provide an image this week that is likely to cause just as much dismay!

Give it a go, there are no wrong answers!
